Akane Kurokawa vs. Kana Arima is a rivalry that the anime has set up since the end of the anime's first season. They seemingly knew each other since their childhood and considered one another rivals. Thus, with Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 7 depicting the start of their showdown, Doga Kobo knew they needed to buckle down when animating it.

Fortunately, they succeeded as the anime episode featured great artwork, majorly focusing on lighting and minor details, including strands of hair. Even the animation quality was top-notch as it was very evident that the studio took great care when working on the characters' movements.

As for the story depiction, the anime episode effectively followed the events from the manga. However, they expanded the scenes by providing their take on some of the events that took in the past.

Some of these scenes included Akane's days as a child actor trying to study Kana Arima's acting and eating peppers believing that Kana liked them. In addition, the anime also showed how Akane got into human psychology all while trying to understand Kana's behavior.

As for Kana, the anime revealed some of her previous works and how she struggled during her transition from a genius child actor to an actor who was convenient to work with.

However, the anime did not stop at just that as at the end, it also soft confirmed that Aqua Hoshino had watched Kana Arima's music videos from the past. While this was not a necessary addition, it did make the Aqua-Kana shippers happy.

Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 7 was a good watch. While it did not amaze fans as much as the previous episode did, it left Akane and Kana fans happy. This may lead one to wonder why the latest episode underperformed compared to the previous episode.

As fans must have realized from the episode, Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 7 was only meant to initiate the showdown between the two actors. Therefore, Doga Kobo might showcase their best work in the next episode, i.e., season 2 episode 8.
