While the Black Clover manga has a huge fanbase, its popularity has been on the decline for the past year. Some may think this is due to a lack of anime, but the real culprit behind this development is the manga series' change in release schedule.

As fans may remember, Black Clover manga used to follow a weekly release schedule. However, this changed last year after the manga switched its magazine from Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump to Jump GIGA. Hence, the manga now follows a quarterly release schedule.

This change effectively saw the manga chapters being released after a huge time gap, causing a detrimental drop in fans' interest. With this in mind, the only thing that could possibly save the series now is Pierrot.

Black Clover anime could save the manga

As anime fans would know, the main commodity within the animanga industry is the manga. While anime are highly popular, their real purpose is only to boost the manga sales for their particular series. This was also the case for Black Clover as its anime boosted its manga sales, helping it circulate 19 million copies worldwide.

However, ever since the manga changed its schedule, its sales have been on a decline. This is due to the lack of compiled manga volumes released by its publishing company Shueisha. With no real volume releases, the total sales cannot go up.

Thus, unless manga creator Yuki Tabata is willing to change the series's schedule, the only thing that can save it is its anime. As fans may remember, the Black Clover anime ended back in March 2021. Ever since then, fans have been waiting for the series to return. While the fans did receive an original movie, what they truly want is for the anime to return with its fifth season.

With Pierrot establishing a new subsidiary animation studio Pierrot Films, the production quality for the Black Clover anime is bound to be spectacular. This is evident from the treatment Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime has received in its third part.

Therefore, the anime's possible return is bound to increase the series' popularity. The thing that is key to this development is the return of the anime's timing. While the die-hard fans of the series might be willing to wait for as long as it takes, not all fans have such patience.

Therefore, Pierrot will need to return with Black Clover anime as soon as possible. While there have been many rumors surrounding the series as to how the production is ongoing right now, the animation studio has made no real statement as such.

Hence, Pierrot Films needs to act fast and announce the anime's return as soon as possible. As fans may remember, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King was released more than two years after it was announced. The animation studio can do the same with the television anime, but they need to make an announcement.
