Attack on Titan and One Piece fans hope that Wit Studio doesn't hand over the latter's remake to MAPPA

It has become a running joke in the anime community that Wit Studio starts a series only for them to hand over the project to Studio MAPPA at some point.

However, it seems highly unlikely that author Eiichiro Oda's series is going to share the exact same fate as the aforementioned franchise because the possibility of that happening is slim. However, there is no denying that is very curious that has happened twice and with the same two companies involved in such high profile series.

There are even some fans on X who have mentioned how much they prefer their interpretations of these series when compared to the treatment MAPPA gave them. That is a positive sign since it shows how beloved they are by the community and are hoping they deliver once again with this project.

Regardless of jokes about the studio changes, there is no denying that the One Piece remake is in safe hands. Recent character designs for the East Blue saga have had a positive reception and have managed to capture the essence of Oda's art style, which is a very prominent element that needs to be respected and taken into account.

Furthermore, an issue that this series always had was the high amount of episodes that it had in the adaptation by Toei Animation, but this isn't something Wit Studio doesn't have to deal with. They can adapt over one thousand chapters from the source material in a streamlined manner, so it means that this adaptation is very likely to be shorter than the first anime by Toei.
