Amidst Chainsaw Man's violence and chaos, Denji and Pochita's relationship is as wholesome as it gets. The pair stumbled upon each other at their respective lows, and it didn't take long to become lifelong partners.

Pochita's contract with Denji seemed very innocent and heartfelt initially, but it may have more layers than what meets the eye. Initially, Denji thought this could be a ticket to an ordinary life. However, now a Hybrid, his life has been far from ordinary, rendering its future prospects nearly impossible.

There is major speculation among Chainsaw Man fans that Pochita may have given Denji an impossible contract. As such, an intriguing theory with this premise has been making its rounds. It could be plausible, too, since Denji's life is perpetually entangled in battles and the chaos of Devil-kind.

Disclaimer: This article is speculative in nature.

Chainsaw Man: Pochita might have contracted with Denji in an impossible way

Pochita contracted with Denji as the latter was breathing his last. He would become Denji's heart in exchange for the boy showing him his dreams. Thus, the immensely powerful Chainsaw Hybrid was born and thrust into the world of Devils and Devil Hunters. But this contract might not be as innocent as it first seemed upon introspection.

A recent theory speculates that Pochita gave Denji this contract, being fully aware of the future. The world of Chainsaw Man is far from ordinary, and possessing Chainsaw Man himself puts one at the center of the chaos, i.e., Denji. Living and dying normally is a near-impossible task in a situation like this, which Pochita knew. Hence, the theory says that Pochita did this so he could be with Denji forever.

It is no surprise that the pair had a deep sense of care and companionship. Despite being a Devil, Pochita warmed up to Denji and wanted to stick by him. So, a contract like this would let him do so since Denji's dreams haven't come true yet and will likely take a lot more time and effort. While it might not be outright impossible, it is quite challenging.

What Pochita truly wants

While this theory makes sense, it might be over the top. To elaborate, Pochita did not seem like a being who would try to manipulate Denji. Granted, he was hostile towards the boy initially, but Denji saving him likely changed Pochita's heart towards him, as evidenced by how their friendship blossomed.

Moreover, Pochita's deep care and concern for Denji probably prompted him to forge the contract. Gravely wounded, in a dumpster and surrounded by Zombies, there was quite literally no escape for the pair. Hence, Pochita's sacrifice was heroic and meant that both could survive and continue living together despite the odds.

Additionally, Pochita acting from within contributed to Denji's safety. For instance, Pochita took over when Public Safety attacked Denji and began rampaging. So, all this does not indicate any malicious intent.

As for them being together, their contract naturally dictates that they need each other to survive. Hence, the whole purpose of Denji continuing to live while Pochita shared the same experiences from within, i.e., witnessing his dreams.

Final thoughts

Pochita and Denji are a ray of wholesomeness in the chaotic Devil-infested world. From the beginning, they have been beside each other, tackling whatever has been thrown at them. It wouldn't be wrong to term them the "iconic inner demon pair."

Addressing their contract, it was likely forged as a last-ditch resort to help Denji escape the mess he was pulled into. As mentioned, Pochita does not seem to have ulterior motives. In fact, it is through Denji that he developed a kind of respect and a soft spot for humanity. Whatever the true reason behind their contract is, it is likely far from harmful.
