Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time episode 1 began with protagonist Takumi Iruma meeting with the goddess Lady Nolyn, after dying on Earth. He’s reincarnated as Takumi in the kingdom of Mildgard on the continent of Asgard, and given Nolyn’s blessing as well.
It’s explained that he was caught up in the summoning ritual of the Holy Sidonia Empire. However, Nolyn also explains that the use of the forbidden spell forced her to block travel between the two worlds.
In other words, it was impossible for Takumi to return to Japan, even if he had a body to return to. With this, Nolyn sent him down into his new life, where he immediately began practicing his magic skills.
He eventually saved a girl from a monster, and was invited back to her village after. The villagers took such a liking to him that they even offered to build him a house, with Takumi building relationships and honing his own skills as he lived there.
Focus briefly shifted to the Holy Sidonia Empire, where the summoned high school students met its ruler, Elizabeth, and immediately became suspicious of her. One day, while in the woods, Takumi defeated an armored boar, and also tamed the killer spider Maple in the process, which was something known to be impossible, per the villagers.
The issue ended with Nolyn revealing she gave him a “special body,” and sent him back to a year before the summoning ritual.
