Gravity manipulators in anime are a peculiar topic in the medium because their powers can oftentimes be rooted in science and human psychics. This can be quite appealing to a lot of people. It is also one of those powers that can be quite flexible when push comes to shove, thus leading to very creative battles, as series such as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure have proven.

Therefore, there are a lot of powerful gravity manipulators in anime that have accomplished major feats in their stories and have also won over the hearts of a lot of fans. So, here are, in no particular order, ten of the most powerful and popular gravity manipulators in anime and the reasons behind their strength.

1) Ochaco Uraraka (My Hero Academia)

There is no denying that Ochaco Uraraka from My Hero Academia might be one of people's first choices when it comes to gravity manipulators in anime. She is one of Deku's first friends when the latter starts at UA. She goes on to become one of the main characters in the story, serving as a significant support to the protagonist.

Uraraka only has to touch an object or a person to eliminate its gravity core, thus leading to said object or person starting floating. She has to keep a hold of the target floating, which puts her stamina to the rest, and can also release it if she feels like it.

2) Dante Zogratis/Lucifero (Black Clover)

This place goes for both characters who, for all intents and purposes, go hand in hand together. Dante Zogratis is a member of the Dark Triad, a group of siblings who made contracts with high-ranking demons and can access their powers, thus leading to them being rarities in the Black Clover universe since they have two Grimoires.

In that regard, Dante can use Gravity Magic because of his connection to the demon Lucifero, although the latter is the original user of this power. Both characters make a full display of these abilities during the Dark Triad arc. This makes them two very prominent gravity manipulators in the anime.

3) Chuuya Nakahara (Bungou Stray Dogs)

There is no denying that when it comes to gravity manipulators in anime, Chuuya is probably one of the most underrated characters. That is most likely due to his own series, Bungou Stray Dogs, being also quite undervalued, but that doesn't stop him from being a very good addition to this list.

Chuuya is one of the members of the Port Mafia and is also one of its Five Executives. He has a very prominent role in this group and is Dazai's former partner in Twin Dark. His gravity manipulation abilities allow him to walk upside down from buildings and also control the aforementioned gravity of the objects he touches, thus making almost anything at his reach a potential weapon.

4) Pain (Naruto)

Nagato Uzumaki was a ninja from Amegakure who helped create and lead the Akatsuki organization thanks to the abilities of his Rinnegan. One of the different powers that this dojutsu had was to manipulate six different bodies, which he called the Six Paths of Pain, with one of them being one of those gravity manipulators in anime.

One of the different abilities included the Deva Path, which allowed Nagato the power to manipulate gravity, thus leading him to repel or attract objects and people according to his whims. This is seen when he fights Kakashi Hatake during Nagato's invasion of the Hidden Leaf Village.

5) Koichi Hirose (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

In the vast universe of JoJo's Bizarre Adventures, Koichi has the distinction of being one of the few characters whose Stand evolves and learns new abilities as the story progresses. When it comes to gravity manipulators in anime, his Stand, known as Echoes, has some interesting elements.

Echoes Act III is the final version of Koichi's Stand in the fourth part of JoJo's, Diamond is Unbreakable, and allows him to put a lot more pressure on a target's gravity field. This proved to be essential in the defeat of Yoshikage Kira in that part as Koichi's Stand kept him from pressing the button of his Killer Queen, which could have killed a lot of people at Morioh.

6) Issho Fujitora (One Piece)

In the field of gravity manipulators in anime, very few examples are as fitting as Fujitora, one of the three Admirals in One Piece. While his role in the story is somewhat short thus far and only has a prominent participation in the Dressrosa arc, it was enough for audiences to witness the scale of his powers.

Fujitora is the wielder of the Zushi Zushi no Mi, a Devil Fruit that allows him to manipulate gravity however he sees fit. This was shown quite clearly during his confrontation with Donquixote Doflamingo and Trafalgar Law in the Dressrosa arc as he drew a meteor from outer space to attack the two pirates.

7) Griffith/Femto (Berserk)

Griffith is one of the strongest gravity manipulators in anime as he cannot be hurt by normal means, as shown during his encounters with Guts after the former became Femto, a member of the Godhand. Among his many abilities, he can manipulate gravity to his will, which is shown to great effect during most of his battles.

Femto/Griffith can repel attacks and manipulate repulsive forces as well as create gravity wells to trap his enemies. Furthermore, Griffith has never been truly pushed to his limits as Femto thus far in the Berserk manga, so there is a possibility he can go even further in this department.

8) Enrico Pucci with the C-MOON Stand (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

There are very few examples of gravity manipulators in anime as Enrico Pucci, the villain of the sixth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Stone Ocean. This is not only because of the abilities he displays through his Stand but also because the concept of gravity, serving as a metaphor for destiny, is a running theme in this story.

Pucci uses three Stands across Stone Ocean, with the second one, C-MOON, being the result of the first one, Whitesnake, merging with the Green Baby. While this Stand is a transitional one as he unlocks Made in Heaven, it allows Pucci to manipulate gravity with great range and even turn people inside out. This was shown during her battle with Jolyne Cujoh.

9) Kenjaku (Jujutsu Kaisen)

There is no denying that Kenjaku's role in Jujutsu Kaisen has made him one of the most popular anime characters at the moment. However, it is certain that most people who have only watched MAPPA's adaptation don't know that he is a gravity manipulator as well. His Cursed Technique not only allows him to take over people's bodies but also steals those individuals' abilities and keeps them as the years go by.

This was in full display during the Culling Games arc where he faced Choso and Yuki Tsukumo. Kenjaku made use of the Cursed Technique known as the Antigravity System, which belonged to Kaori Itadori, the mother of the protagonist Yuji, allowing him to intensify the gravitational pull around him.

10) Kaguya Otsutsuki (Naruto)

Another prominent choice among gravity manipulators in anime (Image via Studio Pierrot).

Kaguya is not only the final boss of Naruto but also one of the strongest characters in the entire series. This is fitting, considering her role as basically the creator of ninjutsu on planet Earth. While she has a plethora of abilities, her gravity manipulation powers might be some of the most underrated.

During certain portions of her time in the series, Kaguya makes use of her manipulation abilities to subdue or overpower her enemies, thus leading to some amazing displays of her ninjutsu prowess. She definitely ranks among the strongest gravity manipulators in anime history.

Final thoughts

There are more gravity manipulators in anime but these are some of the strongest in the entire medium. Furthermore, these are also some of the most prominent since they are part of some of the most celebrated series in the entire world, which adds to their legacy.
