One Piece chapter 1130 revealed many things including Loki's actual visual design as well as his self-proclaimed title of Sun God. Although the Sun God title is currently Luffy's title due to his devil fruit, Loki's unverified claims of godhood might be a payoff of a decade-old setup that happened during the Little Garden arc which marked the very first appearance of Dorry and Brogy in the story.

Dorry and Brogy's duel and the dialogue throughout it quickly established their status as strong and proud warriors in search of death full of honor. However, a few words addressing "Elbaph" as an actual god or an entity within a divine being might've been the foreshadowing of the powers behind Loki's legendary devil fruit.

Giants have been one of the most recurring yet least explored characters in the entirety of the series despite being one of the earliest races introduced in the story. Most of the giants that have appeared in the story have been marine operatives and rather unremarkable characters.

Their first appearance was during the Little Garden arc where Dorry and Brogy were first introduced. Dorry and Brogy's introduction swiftly established them as relentless, ruthless yet proud warriors who believe in the ways of Elbaph.

Although the country of Elbaph is simply known as the land of giants, Elbaph's first few mentions from Dorry oddly referred to their god as "God Elbaf." This stayed consistent in the anime adaptation, further establishing the idea of a god named Elbaf and the rich history and tradition behind that name.

Two more gods, namely Nika and the Sun God of Elbaf, mentioned during Big Mom's flashbacks, share a similar epithet. They were somewhat confirmed as the same god when Brogy recognized Luffy's Gear 5 form as a god from Elbaf legends, confirming that the entities named Elbaf and Nika are not the same.

Given Elbaf's tradition around warriors and a death filled with honor, it is more than likely that Elbaf is a war god. This is derived from Norse mythology, similar to how Nika is derived from different real-world religions in some form.

Dorry and Brogy addressing Elbaf in a tone similar to that of an almighty god almost makes it certain that Elbaf is an Odin-like figure. All of this, along with the numerous mentions of ending the world and themes of rebirth, suggests connections to Ymir and Surtr, giants tied to creation and destruction, respectively.

The god named Elbaf could possibly have an amalgamation of powers ranging from creation, shape-shifting, illusions, and size manipulation. All of these might have been passed down to the giants in the form of a devil fruit, the same supposedly legendary devil fruit that Loki had acquired.

Although theories around the Nika devil fruit being the actual devil fruit of Elbaf has circulated since the debut of chapter 1131, it is unlikely that the so-called legendary devil fruit of Elbaf is related to a minor god instead of God Elbaf, who serves as the backbone of giant tradition.

Dorry and Brogy's comments on Luffy's Gear 5 during chapter 1111 further solidify this since they would have had a much stronger reaction to Gear 5 if its appearance had been similar to God Elbaf instead of a god tied to a few legends in their land.

Final Thoughts

One Piece chapter 1131 will be released on November 10, 2024, and will continue the conversation between Luffy and Loki who met for the first time in chapter 1130. The anime is currently on a long break and will resume in April 2025. Loki's actual powers still remain a mystery, but given the inspiration behind his character and his actual appearance in the series he is expected to be one of the greatest villains in the series, comparable to the likes of Doflamingo.
