Quality Assurance in Another World episode 1 recap
Quality Assurance in Another World episode 1 began with protagonist Nikola being saved from a dragon attack by a man named Haga. He said he was here to investigate the whole world. Nikola then explained that her village is on the island of Clayborne, south of the Felnarc continent. It consists of five kingdoms occupying the island. Nikola then spoke with some locals about Haga, who asserted that he could be a King’s Seeker, an elite force sent to investigate strange things.
She then visited his tent just outside the village, where she claimed she came to thank him. However, she saw him write a report, then use a stone tablet to “send” it somewhere. This created a stream of light reminiscent of data representation, which Nikola called magic. She then gave him some food she made as thanks, asking if he was an adventurer. He then confirmed that he was a King’s Seeker, but the two were interrupted by a noise and shaking.
Haga then ordered Nikola back to the village, claiming a huge dragon was coming as he thought to himself that he couldn’t let Nikola die. Haga then fought the dragon with arrows and explosives, which Nikola admitted was underwhelming while still supporting him. After the fight, it became apparent that Nikola’s world was a game, with Haga being a debugger. Haga also revealed he had tried to break the quest in so many ways, watching Nikola and the others die several times.
Claiming he was done, he returned to his tent and thought of his real-world friends and lives, revealing they had all entered the game via VR. It was also revealed that Haga and his friends were unable to log out of the game, having been inside for a year. Nikola then somehow came back to life, passing out after reaching Haga’s tent. The episode ended with Haga asserting that Nikola may also be one of the game’s bugs.
What to expect from Quality Assurance in Another World episode 2 (speculative)
Quality Assurance in Another World episode 2 will most likely begin with a focus on Nikola, who’ll likely be “analyzed” by Haga in order to determine whether or not she’s a bug. This’ll most likely reveal that she is indeed a bug, and is incapable of permadeath even when the completion of a questline should cause said death.
Episode 2 should also begin highlighting exactly what the narrative of the first season will be, as it’s somewhat unclear thus far. More likely than not, Haga and Nikola will embark on a journey to reunite with the former's friends, with the group looking to both correct Nikola’s bug and find their way back to the real world.
