Ranma ½ episode 4 will air on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 12:55 am JST. The most recent episode continued with Ranma's torment regarding Tatewaki Kuno's crush on the former's female version but also showed more development in his relationship with Akane, whose feelings for Dr. Tofu were a way for the protagonist to discover a lot more of his fiance and her thought process regarding men.

The focus of the episode was emphasized on Akane Tendo's character and why she has so many issues with men, as they never really take into account how she feels and what she thinks. This is contrasted with Dr. Tofu's treatment of her, which is something that Ranma slowly begins to understand, and there is a very good chance that Ranma ½ episode 4 will continue to explore that.

Recap of the previous episode

The beginning of the episode focuses on Ranma Saotome having nightmares due to Tatewaki Kuno's crush on his female version, which is addressed when he goes to school with Akane Tendo. That is when Kuno and Ranma have another fight since the former wants to meet his female version once again without knowing they are the same person. However, the protagonist wins despite getting a lot of injuries in the process.

The bulk of the episode had a lot of comedic moments, such as Akane's sister, Nabiki, selling pictures of her and Ranma to Kuno, which is typical of author Rumiko Takahashi's humor. Eventually, Ranma is sent to Dr. Tufo's office to be treated for the injuries (and the ones Akane caused out of anger because of the protagonist's insults) and discovers that his arranged fiance has a crush on the doctor.

Then, there is the revelation that Tufo actually has a crush on Akane's oldest sister, Kasumi, and how she feels undermined because of it. However, the rest of the episode was heavily focused on Ranma trying to make Akane happy and get a positive reaction out of her, to the point they had another sparring session at the dojo, and the former told the latter that she had a beautiful smile, which serves as the first moment they treat each other well.

Ranma ½ episode 4 of this MAPPA production will likely feature Ryoga Hibiki for the first time and his long-standing rivalry with Ranma Saotome. Furthermore, if that proves to be the case, the next episode could have the moment where Ryoga accidentally cuts Akane's hair, leading to a slight character design she will maintain for the rest of the series.
