Ranma ½ episode 5 will air on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 12:55 am JST. The most recent episode is quite important for the series moving forward since it was the debut of Ryoga Hibiki in this new anime adaptation, and was also the moment where Akane Tendo got his hair cut by accident, which would prove to be a key change in her character moving forward, especially when it comes to her relationship with Ranma Saotome.

Moreover, the bulk of this episode was focused on the introduction of Ryoga Hibiki, establishing him as a martial artist who can keep up with Ranma and who has known the protagonist for years since they went to school together. It was also here that these two characters engaged in a few dynamic battles and Akane had more issues with the protagonist, with Ranma ½ episode 6 likely to continue in that direction.

Recap of the previous episode

The most recent episode started with the introduction of the new character, Ryoga Hibiki, as he was traveling across another town and easily defeated a raging bull, thus showing his fighting prowess. There was also a monologue showing that he is going after Ranma Saotome.

Switching to the protagonist, he is forced to wear girls' clothing by the Tendo sisters because he doesn't have dry male clothes to wear, which is mostly used as comedy.

As Akane Tendo and Ranma head to school, they are met there by Ryoga, and a battle between the latter and the protagonist commences. It is revealed here that the new character has a major vendetta against Ranma and the latter doesn't remember who he is, although he later gets a flashback where he constantly steals Ryoga's food at school, which makes him think that is the reason why he hates him so much.

The second half of the episode was heavily focused on the battle between Ranma and Ryoga, with the latter's sense of direction being a running joke throughout said episode. While they fight in a dynamic manner, Akane tries to aid Ranma when the latter turns into a woman, resulting in a fight between them— with the coprotagonist even slapping Ranma and Ryoga cutting the former's hair by accident, ending with this cliffhanger.

Ranma ½ episode 5 of this MAPPA production will likely explain the real reason Ryoga Hibiki hates Ranma so much, which doesn't have anything to do with their shenanigans at school.

Moreover, the cliffhanger of Akane's hair is going to be addressed and is going to be a major moment in her relationship with the protagonist.
