Arguably, the most highly anticipated sequel anime series set to air in the Fall 2024 season is Re:ZERO season 3. The third season will continue adapting author Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrator Shin’ichiro Otsuka’s original light novel series, with White Fox Studios producing the same. The anime will be released in two split cours totaling 16 episodes, with an eight-week break interrupting the two.
Likewise, given this unique release schedule, fans are curious to learn what Re:ZERO season 3 has in store for them in each arc. Appetites were somewhat whetted by the leak of the 90-minute first episode recently, which has since been stricken from the internet. Thankfully, fans at least know exactly when each episode will premiere, even if what they have in store is a mystery.
How many episodes will Re:ZERO season 3 have?
Re:ZERO season 3 is confirmed for a total of 16 episodes which will be released into two split-cour batches of eight episodes each, separated by a roughly two-month-long hiatus. This was confirmed via the release of the second promotional video for the third season on September 1, 2024. It also named the two cours as the Attack Arc and Counterattack Arc respectively.
The first episode of the first cour will premiere in Japan on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 10:30 pm Japanese Standard Time (JST). Virtually every international region will also see the episode become available for streaming on Wednesday, October 2, save for a select few.
The current complete release schedule for season 3, per the Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), British Summer Time (BST), and India Standard Time (IST) timings is as follows:
While this is the predicted full release schedule based on currently available information, any delays the series announces for any one of its episodes will affect succeeding release dates.
For example, if episode 4 suffers a one-week delay, this will cascade into episodes 5-8 each likewise being pushed back by one week. Delays in the first cour, however, are unlikely to affect the second’s release date. Delays should be announced weekly as needed.
Where to watch Re:ZERO season 3
The highly anticipated sequel series will be airing on several Japanese television broadcast stations. This includes AT-X, TOKYO MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun Television, BS11, Television Hokkaido, Aichi Television, and many more. However, based on the information available on the anime’s official website, only AT-X will be airing the series in the Wednesday 10:30 PM JST time slot.
Crunchyroll will be streaming both cours of the third season internationally with English subtitles as they air weekly in Japan. Crunchyroll will also be producing and streaming dubs for the series in a variety of languages, including English, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, and German.
What to expect from Re:ZERO season 3 (speculative)
Season 3 will continue Subaru Natsuki’s adventures with Emilia, Beatrice, and others, following their escape from the Sanctuary in the second season. Subaru is also now officially Emilia’s knight, thanks to the second season’s events, meaning he should be playing a much more active role in the Royal Selection alongside her.
However, the Witches Cult seemingly follows the group to their new horizons in the third season, given the trailers and the Attack and Counterattack names for the season’s arcs. Fans can expect old faces like Regulus Corneas and new cult members to appear.
