Re:ZERO season 3 episode 2 release date and time, where to watch, and more

Re:ZERO season 3 episode 2 is scheduled to air on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 10:30 pm JST in Japan. It will be broadcast on AT-X, TOKYO MX, and other Japanese television channels. For the international audience, the episode will be available to stream on Crunchyroll shortly after its release.

The first episode of Re:ZERO season 3 kicked off perhaps one of the most anticipated anime releases of the entirety of 2024. The episode saw Subaru Natsuki and Emilia's peaceful lives coming to an abrupt end following the arrival of a letter from Anastasia, who invited them to the watergate city of Priestella.

Upon arriving at the city, they look for a merchant, who apparently had the magic crystal that Emilia had been looking for as a new vessel for Puck.

Episode 1 of Re:Zero season 3, titled Theatrical Malice, started off with Subaru making his way through an obstacle course. This obstacle course was seemingly created to improve his physical capabilities since he was now officially Emilia's knight. A few moments later, however, Petra arrived and informed Subaru and Beatrice of the arrival of an unexpected visitor.

Along the way, Subaru had a heartwarming reunion with Mimi Pearlbaton, who was one of the visitors. After making his way to Emilia's room, Subaru met the other unexpected visitor - who turned out to be Joshua Euclius, a messenger for Anastasia Hoshin and Julius' younger brother.

After a brief exchange, Joshua informed them that they had been invited by Anastasia to visit the Watergate city of Priestella, where a merchant with the magic crystal Emilia desired for recalling Puck was found.

Upon arriving at Priestella, Subaru and the others met up with Anastasia and Julius, who were waiting for them at the inn they were supposed to be staying at. After the necessary introductions were made, Anastasia revealed that the crystal Emilia seeks is in the hands of The Songstress Maniac, the Muse Company's heir.

Subaru and the others soon came across the Songstress, who went by the name of Liliana Masquerade. Their encounter eventually led to them running into the Sin Archbishop of Greed, Regulus Corneas, who surprisingly let them all go unharmed, as he teased that he and the Witch's Cult were up to something sinister.

Upon returning to their inn, the group discovered Reinhard van Astrea, Crusch, Felix Argyle, Wilhelm van Astrea, Anastasia, and Julius waiting for them. With everyone present, Anastasia revealed that she had gathered them together to discuss the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony.

However, the episode took a dark turn towards the end, when Subaru came across the Sin Archbishop of Wrath, who murdered him along with an entire crowd of people as well as a boy she held hostage. Subaru was then brought back by his Return by Death ability, right before the point where he was separated from Emilia and the rest of the group. With this, the episode came to an end.

What to expect from Re:ZERO season 3 episode 2

Given that Subaru was brought back at the end of episode 1, fans can expect to see him possibly trying to prevent the horrifying fate that befell him and everyone else in the crowd that was annihilated by the Sin Archbishop of Wrath, Sirius Romanee-Conti, in Re:ZERO season 3 episode 2.
