Re:ZERO season 3 episode 6 was expected to focus on Subaru reuniting with his allies following his being swept away by the flood waters that swarmed Priestella. Officially released on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, the installment did indeed see Subaru reunite with his allies and also begin his plan of a perfect victory.
However, Re:ZERO season 3 episode 6 also suggested that his victory may not be achievable, with Crush Karsten suffering greatly from the effects of Capella’s dragon blood. Likewise, many other allies' statuses are still unknown by the installment’s end, which could force Subaru to Return by Death in order to achieve his perfect win.
Re:ZERO season 3 episode 6 sees Emilia begin taking action against Regulus as Subaru struggles on
Brief episode recap
Re:ZERO season 3 episode 6 began with Number 184 explaining the current situation to Emilia and emphasizing she must cooperate. Likewise, it seemed Emilia’s presence and cooperation were the only things preventing Priestella from being fully flooded. However, she was clearly thinking of Subaru and confident he’d come to rescue her despite this.
Meanwhile, Subaru Natsuki was unconscious and having a nightmare about all of the struggles he’s faced in Priestella so far. He was woken up by Priscilla and Liliana Masquerade, realizing he somehow still had his leg. Priscilla then cut it open, which instantly healed, prompting him to explain that Capella Emerada Lugunica put Dragon Blood on it. Priscilla explained that Dragon Blood is one of the three treasures the Holy Dragon bestowed upon Lugunica’s royal family.
Re:ZERO season 3 episode 6 saw Liliana sing a song about the Dragon Blood, which essentially portrayed it as a magical cure-all. Priscilla also confirmed that despite this, injuries that aren’t on his leg won’t heal. Subaru then asked about the others, but Priscilla and Liliana didn’t know where they were. Priscilla then listed the new demands Capella had put out while Subaru was unconscious and swept away by the flood.
After learning one of them concerned Emilia, Subaru steeled himself to regroup and win, which Priscilla gave him a reward for. After slamming him into the ground, it became clear that this reward was her handling the demi-beasts that appeared by herself. Priscilla then pulled a sword out of her chest and, with expert swordplay that spat flames as she swung, killed each of the demi-beasts that appeared.
Re:ZERO season 3 episode 6 saw her call her use of the Yang Sword to help him her reward to him, prompting Subaru to ask how strong Priscilla really is. She then led him to witness “one more current reality” of the city, which was a nearby shelter. Here, the Authority of Wrath was taking effect, putting everyone in the shelter on edge to the point of arguing with each other at near-riot levels.
Subaru even came under its effects briefly, before Priscilla pulled him out of it and Liliana began singing a song. This calmed everyone down but also led Subaru to realize that this was likely happening at every shelter in the city. Taking Liliana to these shelters was implied to be one of Priscilla’s objectives alongside searching for her allies, while Subaru departed to reunite with his.
Re:ZERO season 3 episode 6 then shifted the focus to Emilia and Regulus Corneas, where the latter critiqued Capella and told Emilia she had nothing to worry about. However, Emilia’s demeanor was clearly grating on Regulus’ nerves, prompting him to instead discuss their coming wedding. He also specified that he once had nearly 300 wives, but only just over 50 are alive now including Emilia.
Regulus then tried to punish Number 184 for not noticing something wrong with Emilia, with Emilia saving her. However, she was unfazed by the attempt on her life and instead continued her role as one of Regulus’ wives by cleaning up the mess it caused. The focus then shifted to Subaru, who was saved from a demi-beast by Julius Euclius. The pair then went back to the government office, which was their new headquarters.
Re:ZERO season 3 episode 6 saw Felix Argyle angrily slapping Wilhelm van Astrea while Ricardo Welkin handed Subaru his whip back. It was then revealed that Crusch Karsten had been transformed into something horrifying due to Capella’s blood. However, the focus shifted to Emilia, who was attempting to escape Regulus’ clutches. But, as she escaped, she heard Regulus arguing with the other Sin Archbishops about their goals in Priestella.
The focus then shifted back to Subaru, who was meeting with Anastasia Hoshin. They spoke about Beatrice likely being the artificial spirit Capella was demanding. Subaru then theorized that the Tome of Wisdom is the book on which the Witch Cult’s bibles were based. He explained that there were two but both were burned and likewise don’t exist. Subaru refused to let them have either Beatrice or Emilia likewise, which Anastasia agreed with.
Re:ZERO season 3 episode 6 saw her reveal that Kiritaka Muse had unfortunately gone missing, so it was up to them to free the city. Anastasia expressed concern for needing to make sacrifices of some citizens, but Subaru refused to allow this since the people hadn’t decided to fight or die trying yet.
Subaru then spouted about his plans for a total victory, which included defeating all of the Sin Archbishops and saving the lives of those Capella has transformed. Likewise, he seemingly wasn’t considering the fact that his total victory may already be impossible, a decision that may haunt him. Emilia then snuck into Regulus’ room and stole his communicator, where she made contact with Al as the episode ended.
In summation
While Re:ZERO season 3 episode 6’s primary focus was Subaru, Emilia also got significant screen time, which revealed key info regarding the Sin Archbishops. With the group’s goals at odds with one another, Emilia will likely try and leverage this information to help Subaru achieve his total victory. However, if the series has proven anything, it’s that Subaru’s plans rarely work on the first try, which may end up being the case here.
