Re:ZERO season 3 episode 7 recap
Episode 7 of Re:ZERO season 3, titled The Newest Hero and the Oldest Hero, started off with a conversation between Al and Emilia, who informed him to relay the locations of Regulus Corneas and Capella Emerada Lugunica to Subaru, and that he should keep Beatrice safe at all costs. When Al told Emilia that she could directly ask Subaru to rescue her, she assured him that she was fine and that she had no doubt that Subaru would come to rescue her sooner or later.
Focus of the episode then shifted to Subaru, Anastasia and Julius receiving the aforementioned information from Al, following which Subaru said that they should act on this. He went on to explain his plan to take back the city from the Witch's Cult to his allies.
After having a brief strategic discussion about freeing the city from Sirius Romanee-Conti's influence, Subaru asked Anastasia to speak to the people of the city. However, Anastasia claimed that she wasn't good enough for this, following which Garfiel Tinsel prompted Subaru to speak to the people instead, since he's the only one to have beaten a Sin Archbishop before.
After realizing that Subaru might be the right person to speak to the city, Julius gave him some words of encouragement by highlighting his growth and admitting that he deeply respects him. Although he was initially filled with doubts, Subaru's conversation with Al made him realize the gravity of his responsibilities and his role in the upcoming conflict. This inspired Subaru to finally make the announcement, as he claimed that it wouldn't change what he needs to do and that he has already decided to be a hero.
Emilia returned to her room, where Regulus' 184th wife urged her to run away. Their conversation was interrupted by Subaru’s voice broadcasting across the city. He reassured the people of Priestella, explaining their situation and declaring his intention to fight the Witch's Cult, despite his weaknesses.
Subaru’s speech inspired Emilia and everyone in Priestella, as he promised to win the upcoming battle and urged them to be brave and fight with him. The episode ended there.
