Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is rumored to receive an anime adaptation as per a tweet posted by a popular leaker. This incredibly popular videogame title, which has garnered a massive fanbase, is known for its high-difficulty boss fights and fluid game mechanics.

Fans are notably excited about the possibility of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice being animated since it has a ton of potential. The game is set in Japan’s Sengoku Era. The protagonist of this series is a shinobi, who is responsible for guarding Kuro, a divine young lord with a mysterious lineage. A desperate attempt is made to save the land of Ashina as the empire starts to crumble.

Reasons why Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice would translate well in the anime medium

One of the most positive aspects of all the games released by FromSoftware is the intricate and exciting lore. Aside from the fluid game mechanics, lore plays an important role in creating an immersive experience, which is essential for an action role-playing/action-adventure game.

Additionally, the setting of the game is such that it will work as an anime adaptation, if executed well. There are plenty of anime series that revolve around samurais and shinobis. Most shonen anime series have such elements. This, paired with Sekiro's enjoyable lore, already makes the game a great source material to adapt.

Finally, another aspect of the game that will most likely contribute to the series' potential success is the fanbase. This game won the Game of The Year in 2019, and a ton of prestigious awards aside from that.

Additionally, Sekiro has gained a fanbase that is not only massive, but also extremely dedicated. Fans of this game have shown their support to the studio on various social media platforms and forums. If the anime adaptation is confirmed, and the studio does a faithful adaptation with 2D animation, the series will surely succeed.

Plot of the game

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a role-playing action game that is set in Ashina, Japan. Isshin Ashina succeeded in taking over the land of Ashina. At this point in time, there was a wandering shinobi named Owl, who adopted a child. This child was named Wolf and was taught the skills of a shinobi. With Isshin's decline in health paired with the Interior Ministry set on unifying the whole of Japan, Ashina began to crumble.

Isshin's adopted grandson Genichiro seeks Kuro, the Immortal Divine Heir, who has the Dragon Heritage which could be used to create an immortal army. Wolf was Kuro's bodyguard and had to take on Genichiro; not only did he lose the former to the latter, he also lost an arm.

He was nursed back to health by another shinobi known as The Sculptor who gifted Wolf a prosthetic arm, and his conquest crossed paths with Isshin once again. It was Isshin who named him Sekiro, which meant, "The one-armed wolf."
