Rurouni Kenshin season 2 episode 2 is set to release on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 12:55 AM JST as per the series’ official website. Following nearly a full episode’s worth of focus on Kaoru Kamiya, Sanosuke Sagara, and Yahiko Myojin, it is expected that the second installment will focus solely on Kenshin Himura.

Select international fans will see the episode premiere early on Friday morning locally. However, most global fans will see the episode become available for streaming sometime during the day on Thursday. Exact time of release varies by region and timezone.

Where to watch Rurouni Kenshin season 2 episode 2?

International audiences can watch the episode on Crunchyroll after it airs in Japan, with the streaming service having already confirmed this in their Fall 2024 lineup news. As of this article’s writing, no alternate language dubs have been announced as in production for the series.

Rurouni Kenshin season 2 episode 1 began with a flashback to Kenshin being confronted by Hajime Saito after saying goodbye to Kaoru. Saito essentially offered Kenshin help and advice which he rejected.

The focus then shifted to Sanosuke, who was throwing a fit over Kenshin leaving. He went to his friend Tsunan Tsukioka to borrow supplies for the trip to Kyoto after Kenshin, with Yahiko following him there.

However, Yahiko was in turn tailed by Saito, who told the duo that they’d be nothing more than weaknesses to Kenshin in Kyoto. He asserted that they wouldn’t be able to protect themselves against the foes they’d be facing once arriving there, and that this would lead to Kenshin needing to protect them.

This led to a fight between Saito and Sanosuke which ended with no serious injuries, but the latter having clearly gained some respect from the former. Yahiko and Sanosuke then ran into Megumi Takani, who went to the Kamiya dojo to speak with Kaoru. While doing so in a tough love way, she did eventually rouse Kaoru into breaking free of the depression that had befallen her in the wake of Kenshin’s departure.

Thanks to her efforts, Yahiko and Sanosuke were then able to convince Kaoru to come to Kyoto with them and chase Kenshin. The episode ended with a brief shot of Kenshin on the road to Kyoto.

What to expect from Rurouni Kenshin season 2 episode 2 (speculative)

Rurouni Kenshin season 2 episode 2 will likely begin with a focus on Kenshin as he travels to Kyoto on foot. He’ll probably meet and assist some people on the way in typical Kenshin fashion, also learning about the larger effect Makoto Shishio’s presence has had in the process. This may even lead to Kenshin assisting these people by battling one of Makoto’s generals, albeit likely one of the weaker and less important ones.

Regardless, this should make for a good amount of action in episode 2, possibly even seeing Kenshin become Hitokiri Battousai again. At a minimum, however, Kenshin will perhaps discover Shishio’s exact location from this general, setting up their meeting down the road in season 2. A brief focus on Kaoru and co may also be given at the end of the episode, possibly seeing them meeting the people Kenshin has already assisted.
