Sakamoto Days chapter 167 will be released in Japan on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 12 am JST. Fans can read the issue on Viz Media’s official website, Shueisha’s MANGAPlus service, or the Shonen Jump+ app.

In the last installment, readers got to further appreciate Takamura’s skills, even with his physical limitations. The old man has not just dealt with Sakamoto, Nagumo, and Uzuki, but also Gaku and Haruma. This could put an end to Uzuki’s plan, unless there is, of course, someone or something that can pose a challenge to Takamura in Sakamoto Days chapter 167.

Sakamoto Days chapter 166 recap

In the previous chapter of Sakamoto Days, Uzuki tried to stop Gaku from fighting Takamura. But Gaku was undeterred and ended up getting stabbed in the arm by the old man. Haruma, who had also returned, used his shot put ball to stop Takamura, but was not able to do much harm as the old man proved that he could slice the ball in two.

Neither Haruma nor Gaku looked upset, though they acknowledged that the old man was a beast. Uzuki once again ordered them to withdraw, but they were determined to topple the JAA, for which killing Takamura was necessary. Haruma commented about them being birds of a feather, which led to a flashback.

A young Uzuki was seen complaining about having to become assassins to Haruma. Uzuki had the option to leave the Al-Kamar orphanage and possibly survive on the streets, but he chose not to. He had been trained to be an assassin all his life and was now afraid of leaving that life behind. He saw assassins as bad people but felt he did not fit into the world of ordinary people either. Haruma understood Uzuki, who then stated that they were birds of a feather.

In the present, Uzuki informed Haruma and Gaku that while Takamura's awareness was hazy, he was highly sensitive to bloodlust. They used this information to devise a plan to restrain Takamura by chaining his arm to an elevator, rather than attacking him with the intent to kill. Their plan was successful.

As Takamura tried to cut the chain with his katana, Gaku hurled his mace to stop him. Takamura, surprising everyone, severed his own hand to free himself and then reattached it. Gaku recalled Takamura's ability to make such clean cuts that the muscle tissue remained alive. Following this, Takamura just sliced Haruma's body in two.

What to expect from Sakamoto Days chapter 167 (speculative)

The tides have turned again, as Gaku and Haruma are evidently no match for Takamura. Haruma's severe injuries and blood loss will probably stop him from continuing the fight, even if he survives, especially since he has already been critically wounded in battle with Shin.

It seems improbable that Gaku could take on the swordsman by himself. Therefore, it will be interesting to see if anyone turns up to challenge Takamura in Sakamoto Days chapter 167. Uncovering the secret that Asaki has been keeping will not be possible without removing Takamura.
