In the previous chapter, Oki recognized Sakamoto's wife, although it was actually Sakamoto disguised as her. He inquired about Sakamoto’s whereabouts, but Sakamoto, pretending to be his wife, replied that she had no idea as they were not close. Torres proposed kidnapping her to lure Sakamoto out, but Oki rejected this idea since the Order does not allow intentionally harming civilians.
At that moment, Shin’s disguise fell off, and Torres appeared behind him. Nagumo, also ditching his disguise, kneed Torres while Sakamoto pulled Shin away. Kamihate was unsure whether to snipe them but was advised against it. Oki instead relied on Tanabata, who used his electric guitar to send sound waves through the sewer, causing a sewer cover to hit Sakamoto in the face.
Tanabata then lodged his guitar wire into Sakamoto’s skin, and delivered another sound attack, shaking Sakamoto internally. Despite being nearly paralyzed, Sakamoto’s primary concern was protecting Hana’s cake.
Kamihate and Osaragi flanked him, but Shin stepped in and used his telepathic power to stop them in their tracks.
The three managed to escape. Oki decided against chasing them as unplanned battles could lead to accidents.
Meanwhile, Shin explained to Sakamoto and Nagumo that he could now temporarily rewire his enemies' thoughts. Nagumo teased that such a power seemed too convenient and might have side effects, such as Shin losing a year of his life with each use.
Upon reaching Sakamoto’s place, they discovered that the cake meant for Hana was ruined. Sakamoto, feeling defeated, could not present it to her, so Nagumo ended up enjoying it. Reflecting on the events, Sakamoto realized that while he fought to protect his family, his presence now posed a danger to them. So he concluded that he should not be with them.
What to expect from Sakamoto Days chapter 171 (speculative)
In Sakamoto Days chapter 171, Sakamoto will likely wrestle with the realization that he has become the one who puts family in jeopardy. But completely breaking off from them and becoming a fugitive is, of course, not the solution.
There is a slight possibility that he might join hands with Uzuki in the future to topple the Order. However, without any spoilers, it is hard to predict what the next chapter will be like.
