Sakamoto Days chapter 172 recap

The previous chapter opened with a pile of corpses of JAA assassins, all victims of Uzuki. Kanaguri, Kumanomi, and Akira were present with him. It was astonishing for them to witness the kind of damage that Uzuki was capable of, having adopted Takamura's persona.

Kanaguri was convinced that Uzuki had become the deadliest assassin in JAA's history, and all they could do was observe the extent of his powers.

However, Kumanomi seemed blind to Uzuki’s unnatural state and approached him exuberantly, thrilled that Uzuki, despite his injuries, could strike down so many enemies. She was confident that they could now complete their mission even without Haruma and Gaku.

In response, Uzuki shattered her mechanical arm with a strike of his blade. The next blow could have been fatal, but Akira jumped in, pushing her aside just in time to save her life, though Kumanomi ended up losing the ends of her hair.

Kumanomi instantly entered into a state of frenzy, unable to comprehend why Uzuki, who was like family to her, would try to hurt her. She wondered if she had done something to anger him.

Kumanomi then blamed Akira for his current condition, not realizing that he was not in control of his Takamura alter ego. Meanwhile, Kanaguri declined to help Akira out as he was the director and Akira the heroine.

Uzuki moved towards Akira, ready to strike, but stopped himself at the last moment. It appeared that his Akao personality had taken over. After dismissing Kumanomi, who was still in a state of shock, with a slap, the Akao personality urged Akira to leave.

She explained that the multiple personalities inside Uzuki's head are shaped by his memories of those people. Since he remembers Takamura as a rampaging killer, he replicates that.

Akira then questioned Akao about how Uzuki recognized her, given that he had never seen her. Akao explained that she had spoken extensively about her to Uzuki when she was alive. Akira was left confused about the kind of relationship Akao shared with Uzuki.

What to expect from Sakamoto Days chapter 173 (speculative)

The previous chapter concluded with a surprising revelation that the relationship between Akao and Uzuki might have been quite different from what was initially presented. The details surrounding her death still remain a mystery, but it appears that readers are on the verge of finding out what exactly happened during the period they both had vanished.

Therefore, in Sakamoto Days chapter 173, readers may expect an elaborate flashback sequence, although this is totally speculative.
