In the previous chapter, Boiled explained to Shin that he did not have any personal issues with him. However, because Shin had picked fights with other inmates, Boiled felt he could not back down now. Heisuke warned Shin to be cautious, mentioning that Boiled had previously fought Sakamoto. Despite the warning, Shin was ready to brawl, but he found himself surrounded by armed guards.
The next person to appear was Jo Shackles, the head guard of JAA Prison B1. Even Boiled seemed uneasy in his presence and telepathically advised Shin to stay quiet if he did not want to end up dead. Shackles questioned Boiled about who was responsible for making B1 a decent place to live. Boiled answered that it was Shackles, but his response was deemed too slow, and Shackles shot him in the knee.
Shackles wanted to maintain peace in B1 and had an agreement with the inmates that if anyone messed with him, they would be sent to a lower level in the prison.

Shin tried to kick Shackles again but ended up getting his leg cuffed. Shackles then hurled him around and slammed him into the walls. At this point, Shin realized that Shackles was not just an ordinary prison guard. As he lay on the ground, injured and unable to get up, Shackles told him that the condition for being sent to a lower level was to mess with him. However, what Shin did was considered ordinary and did not qualify as such.
What to expect from Sakamoto Days Chapter 183 (speculative)
Shin appears to have encountered his first major obstacle on his journey to reach the JAA fortune teller. While Boiled seemed like an opponent he could handle, Jo Shackles is proving to be a much more formidable adversary, which is fitting for someone in charge of the JAA prison.
In Sakamoto Days Chapter 183, readers can anticipate Shin reassessing his strategy, as his time in the prison is also about becoming strong enough to face Uzuki’s gang.
