Sakamoto Days episode 2: Taro Sakamoto and Shin Asakura meet Lu Shaotang in Niikita Chinatown
Sakamoto Days episode 2 begins with Shin Asakura fanboying over Taro Sakamoto's exploits from the other day. He recalls how Taro defeated the mobs in close-quarter combat. Shin feels no one stands a chance against Sakamoto even this far into his retirement. He further recalls how Sakamoto "iced" a few mobs.
Unfortunately, Taro Sakamoto's wife, Aoi, overhears Shin. She angrily asks her husband whether he has killed someone. Sakamoto becomes visibly anxious and says he hasn't landed lethal wounds on his foes. Aoi then threatens to divorce Sakamoto if he breaks their family rule.
When Shin asks Sakamoto about the rule, the ex-hitman kills him in his thoughts. Later that day, Taro takes Shin to Niikita Chinatown to buy restocking items. Along the way, Sakamoto buys meat buns to share with Aoi and Hana. Shin is overwhelmed with tears seeing Taro's love for his family.
Just then in Sakamoto Days episode 2, a girl falls from above on Taro Sakamoto, ruining the meat buns as a result. Shin and Taro wonder if they can somehow brush off the dirt from the buns but realize they are beyond saving. Meanwhile, a few mobs are seen chasing after the pink-haired girl.
The mysterious woman, who is later introduced as Lu Shaotang, showcases her expert Tai Chi skills to throw them off guard. On the other hand, Sakamoto and Shin are dragged into Lu's affairs as the mobs identify them as her accomplices. The duo then demonstrates their skills to escape from the mobs, taking Lu with them.
Elsewhere, a bespectacled man apologizes to Wang, the chairman of Danshokai, for failing to capture the girl. Wang lashes at the man and asks how he could let the girl escape, especially after killing her family and having her cornered. The man apologizes once again.
Yet, before he can finish his sentence, he gets decapitated by a masked man. Sakamoto Days episode 2 then introduces Bacho and his older brother, Son Hee, who are feared as merciless assassins. As Bacho plays with the man's head, Son Hee scolds him.
Wang then assigns them the task to track down Lu Shaotang and retrieve a key from her. He says he can rule the Chinese Black Market if he can get the key. Additionally, Wang allows them to kill whoever gets in their way. Meanwhile, Sakamoto and Shin learn that Lu Shaotang is the daughter of a Triad family.
According to Sakamoto Days episode 2, Lu is hiding the key to her family's hidden safe from Wang and his gang. Moreover, Lu Shaotang mentions how her family sacrificed their lives to entrust the key to her. That's why she doesn't want to lose the key, as she won't be able to face her parents in the afterlife.
Lu apologizes to Sakamoto and Shin for causing them trouble and proceeds to head out. As she's about to leave, Sakamoto asks Lu whether she can make meat buns. Although she can't guarantee the taste, Lu says she can make them since her father taught her in the past. Sakamoto then decides to help Lu Shaotang. However, in exchange, he wants her to make meat buns for them.
Sakamoto Days episode 2: Taro Sakamoto vs. Bacho and Son Hee
The narrative for Sakamoto Days episode 2 shifts the focus to Bacho, who arrives at the scene out of nowhere and sends Taro Sakamoto flying to a nearby building with a solid kick. Along with Bacho, his brother, Son Hee also appears.
According to Lu Shaotang, Bacho and Son Hee are the twin assassins, notorious for being serial killers. They take delight in sketching the heads of their prey. Shin Asakura, who has enough experience in close combat, charges at the twin assassins.
Son Hee wonders whether Shin has become angry because they killed his partner. Shin Asakura mocks the duo for underestimating Taro Sakamoto. He also calls them amateurs for not knowing about Sakamoto's status. Meanwhile, Bacho is about to slash Lu, but Taro Sakamoto returns at the right time to thump his head on the ground.
The impact breaks the roof and they jump one floor below. Bacho and Son Hee acknowledge Sakamoto's endurance. However, they still don't see him as a threat. Rather, they ask Lu Shaotang to hand over the key if she wants a beautiful death. When Lu refuses, Son Hee admonishes her for clinging onto an object more than her life.
He also makes some nasty remarks about her parents, which irks Lu. Enraged, Lu Shaotang charges at Son Hee but Sakamoto stops her at the right time. Shin urges her not to fall for such an obvious bait. Lu then mentions how the key to the safe contains her family's treasure that his parents died to protect.
Meanwhile, Son Hee throws a knife at Lu, which Sakamoto grabs out of thin air. He threatens the assassin not to decide what's important to the girl. Seeing Sakamoto going out of his way to protect a girl he doesn't even know baffles Shin Asakura. Just then, Sakamoto Days episode 2 shows a scene from the past.
On a snowy winter night, Sakamoto met Aoi after taking care of his hitman duties. Seeing blood on Sakamoto's hands and face, Aoi reprimanded him. Sakamoto said he couldn't have bought the gift if he hadn't carried out his mission. However, Aoi refused to take a gift stained with blood.
She realized Sakamoto wouldn't listen, so she jumped from the railing to kill herself. Taro Sakamoto leaped forward to save Aoi from her certain death. Aoi wanted to make Sakamoto realize how his victims' loved ones would feel to see them dead.
That's why, she made Sakamoto promise to never kill anyone again. She made it the number one rule. Additionally, to compensate for his crimes, she wanted Sakamoto to help others. Following that, the narrative returns to the present and shows Shin Asakura overwhelmed with emotions after finding out about Sakamoto's past from his thoughts.
Sakamoto Days episode 2 then shows Taro Sakamoto in action against Son Hee and Bacho. Although he has become slightly rusty, Sakamoto dismantles the twin assassins' strongest moves to defeat them. He brings Son Hee and Bacho to Wang, who begs for mercy.
Interestingly, Lu Shaotang gets him away only after beating him to a pulp. After that, she enters the hidden safe, with Sakamoto and Shin Asakura by her side. According to Sakamoto Days episode 2, the safe contains the prized possessions of every generation of the Shaotang family.
She finds out that her parents hid a bottle of sake to drink with her when she came of age. When Shin asks Lu what it says, Lu reveals it's the tastiest sake in the world. The next day, Shin Asakura is shocked to see Lu Shaotang wearing the store apron.
She reveals that Sakamoto has hired her to make meat buns. Meanwhile, Shin informs Sakamoto that he now knows why he (Sakamoto) has quit killing people. Since Shin has become part of the family, Sakamoto says he too has to follow the same rule from now on.
Sakamoto Days episode 2 ends with a group of unidentified people reading a bounty list from the JAA. Apparently, they have put a bounty of 1 billion yen on Taro Sakamoto's name.
