Jujutsu Kaisen is a chapter away from drawing the curtains on what has been an epic ride filled with adrenaline-pumping action. The most recent release, chapter 270, showcased brief cameos from supporting characters seen during the course of the series. But even now, creator Gege Akutami's genius writing is shining through.

The title of chapter 270, "The End of the Dream", is what is being referred to here. Akutami has chosen such a title that throws back to Gojo Satoru's words early on in Jujutsu Kaisen.

At the time, it seemed like Gojo was putting forth something that he longed to see happen for a while but was presently out of reach. However, the events of Jujutsu Kaisen itself made it all possible and this trumps any dream theory formulated so far. Here's how.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo's words early on in the series best explain chapter 270's title

To understand the title of chapter 270, i.e, "The End of the Dream", we must refer back to chapter 11 - "The Dream". In this chapter, Gojo speaks to Kiyotaka Jijichi about his dream. He establishes that "the scum" of the Jujutsu world were the higher-ups, "just plain idiots" and that he was going to reset the Jujutsu world as a whole.

It would be easy for him to go forth and murder everyone who was in charge. However, the issue was that there needed to be someone to take over once that happened. This was why he turned to education - he needed to seek out and foster "strong and intelligent allies". One of the means to train them would be assigning his missions to them.

Now, with everything that has happened, Gojo's dream has become a reality, hence the title. It was a reality he helped create as the story progressed.

Further, in chapter 223, Yoshinobu Gakuganji revealed to Gojo that he was the one who had killed Masamichi Yaga, but Gojo did not kill him. He understood the need to keep the old man alive, stating "You've changed, haven't you, Gramps?" and later admitting that it would've been better to have Gakuganji at the helm.

269 chapters later, Gojo has managed to foster strong and capable sorcerers in Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, Maki Zenin, Yuta Okkotsu and others. The latest chapter reveals the decisions being taken regarding Tengen's barriers, the recovery of the reincarnated sorcerers and Jujutsu Society as a whole. They are testament to how much his students have grown and the kind of influence he had on them.

Moving forward, the dream theories go on to suggest that all has happened is a dream. This is due to Gojo's line in chapter 236, where he seemed to be in some kind of afterlife, meeting up with Suguru Geto and Kento Nanami. There, he hoped that he wasn't dreaming. After all, it would be far too convenient to bring the story up till that point and then say that none of it was real. Hence, the Dream Theories stand as disproved.

Rather, Gojo turned his dream into reality and though he lost his life in the process, things are finally in a better state. With Gojo murdering the higher-ups, Gakuganji stands as the head of Jujutsu Society and the new generation of sorcerers is bright and very competent.

What remains is status of Gojo himself, as it is known that Yuta returned to his original body but nothing was said about Gojo's body. Additionally, the beginning of chapter 270 shows Shoko Ieiri mentions her desire to bury only Geto; Gojo isn't mentioned so there could be something left unrevealed.
