Senpai Is an Otokonoko episode 5 began with Saki successfully passing her exams. Her uncertainty regarding her feelings for Makoto was also teased here. Later that day, Ryuji asked her if she was really in love with Makoto. She hid her true feelings before asking Ryuji his, prompting him to say he loves Makoto. Saki began crying after, clearly wanting to be in love with Makoto but not understanding why she wasn’t but Ryuji was.

He chased after her and gave her a pep talk before giving her time to calm down on her own. She then apologized to Ryuji when she came back in. Makoto saw them talking and began thinking they were dating, asking Ryuji if he liked anyone after Saki went home. Makoto then explained that he loves Saki, but not romantically, urging Ryuji to pursue her. However, it then became clear this wasn’t the case, causing Makoto to further ask who he liked.
