Shangri-La Frontier season 2 episode 1 began with Sunraku’s fight against Wethermon the Tombguard. This fight took place in the previous season, and the fight concluded with Sunraku emerging victorious. Following this, the episode focused on the conversation that Sunraku had with the Professor.

The latter was the leader of a lore clan called The Library. This is a clan that collects information on the lore and history of Shangri-La, which was why Sunraku’s identity wasn’t a secret despite his best attempts to hide it.

Sunraku realized he needed his comrade, Bilac, to become an Ancient Craftsman to progress in the game. This finally led to the current events being covered in the second season. This led to Sunraku, Bilac, Aramiys, and Emul entering a new game area, which marked the beginning of this series' second installation.

The crew realized the new game area they entered was creeping with threats, and they presented themselves as Golems. The first Golem was rather massive in size, and it also had a limb that transformed into a flamethrower. Sunraku and Emul were advancing towards the Golem, but Aramiys used an extremely high-level attack on a low-level threat. This resulted in the Golem being fried, which meant the crew didn’t get any loot to collect after defeating an enemy.

Bilac and Sunraku decided to give a piece of their mind to Aramiys, who was instructed to be conservative with his choice of attacks. While they were distracted, an elemental Golem clung to Sunraku. Moments before detonating, Bilac maintained her composure, swung her hammer, and sent the Golem flying into the distance.

Just when things calmed down, a horde of Golems sprouted from the motherlode, which targeted Aramiys and Emul. Sunraku and Bilac found this rather strange. Upon deliberation, however, the duo realized that the Golems targeted the aforementioned characters since they were powerful spellcasters. They targeted individuals who appeared to be the biggest threats on the battlefield.

After a brief exchange seen in Shangri-La Frontier season 2 episode 1, we saw Sunraku use the Flame General’s Decapitator. He defeats the massive Golem, which left some loot for the crew. They acquired a Blasting Earth Idol and a Sword-Denying Idol. Both seemed to offer unique perks that would benefit Sunraku’s crew.

Sunraku used deduction to accurately locate the entrance of a workshop from the Age of Divinity. As seen in Shangri-La Frontier season 2 episode 1, he isn’t alone and the threats only seem to get worse as time progresses.

Final Thoughts

However, Shangri-La Frontier season 2 episode 1 dove into the story after spending a few minutes providing the fans with a recap. The animation was incredible overall. It was smooth, the particle effects enhanced the fight sequence, and the strategic camera angles added a layer of dynamism.
