Shangri-La Frontier season 2 episode 8, picked up where the previous one left off as Sunraku managed to deceive Rust with his Fiddler Crab and cut one of the arms of his rival's Nephilim. It was later revealed by Mold, Rust's assistant, that Sunraku had placed some anti-gravity devices on his Nephilim for a surprise attack of this ilk, but the former managed to dodge it and only lost the unit's arm.

The battle showed how Sunraku came prepared as he had several gadgets ready to attack Rust, such as the net he had ready to go to trap her. Rust dodged the net but could only move in a certain direction because of the damage the protagonist had prepared but that was the latter's plan as he had a chainsaw hidden to destroy her.

Shangri-La Frontier season 2 episode 8 then declared Sunraku as the winner, much to the surprise of Super Baldy and the rest of Nephilim Hollow. Rust was initially disappointed that Sunraku was going to leave the game again but once she heard that he was playing Shangri-La Frontier, the mood switched.

Rust revealed that she and Mold were playing Shangri-La Frontier but lost interest once they couldn't find any robots to use but Sunraku mentioned there were some in a Unique Scenario, prompting the former to tell her how. This was when she offered information about the Seven Colossi, Ctarnidd of the Abyss, in exchange for the protagonist telling her about Inventoria.

In the second part of Shangri-La Frontier season 2 episode 8 both parties discussed the information they gathered across the game. Rust started by revealing that they found information about Ctarnidd thanks to a few NPCs in the game, and the players had to defeat some challenges to get there. In exchange for playing more Nephilim Hollow with her, Sunraku agreed to do an expedition with them in the Shangri-La Frontier to reach that Colossi.

The episode featured an epilogue of sorts featuring Emul in Rabituza and the introduction of one of her many siblings, Ceecrue, who told her that he wanted to see their father, Vysache. It turned out he found a girl who could be a good wielder of the Vorpal spirit, who was revealed to be Akane Akitsu.

Final thoughts

Shangri-La Frontier season 2 episode 8 managed to connect the Nephilim Hollow game with the main plot while adding more lore of the Seven Colossi. It also introduced the character of Akane Akitsu, who is bound to be important this season.
