The Final War arc of the My Hero Academia manga, which has been running for 80 chapters now, finally reached its conclusion this week with the release of chapter 423. It also brought an end to All For One and Tomura Shigaraki's stories as it saw the latter lending a hand to Deku to defeat the Demon Lord.

However, as epic as Shigaraki's sendoff may have been, many fans felt conflicted about his ending. Some even claimed that Shigaraki's death in My Hero Academia chapter 423 was 'rushed,' and he should have received more than two and a half pages for a proper conclusion.

Why fans weren't pleased with Tomura Shigaraki's conclusion in My Hero Academia chapter 423

Deku finally defeating All For One with the help of all his friends and the entirety of the Hero society was an ending everyone anticipated but was extremely satisfied to witness in chapter 423 of the My Hero Academia manga. It took the combined effort of both Heroes and Villains, like Kurogiri and Tomura Shigaraki, in particular, to bring a definitive end to the Demon Lord.

The panel where Deku stands tall while Shigaraki's body crumbles to dust as the sun shines brightly on the battlefield is easily one of the most iconic panels of the My Hero Academia manga. However, one aspect of the latest chapter that left fans feeling conflicted is the ending of Tomura Shigaraki.

While one-half of the My Hero Academia fandom was overall satisfied with Shigaraki's conclusion, the other half deemed it to be a bit 'rushed.' They pointed out that the character's sendoff happened in only two and a half pages.

Given that the series had been building towards Shigaraki eventually redeeming himself with Deku's help, fans had expected the sendoff to his character to last a bit longer.

However, chapter 423 not only wrapped up the final battle of the series but also provided definitive conclusions to both All For One and Tomura Shigaraki's respective stories. As such, many were left feeling that Horikoshi may have rushed the ending of Shigaraki, seeing as not many complained about All For One's conclusion.

How fans reacted to Shigaraki's end

Towards the end of My Hero Academia chapter 423, Tomura Shigaraki had a brief yet meaningful conversation with Deku, where he revealed that his grandmother, Nana Shimura, had saved him from disappearing. Shigaraki also told Deku to relay a message to Spinner and inform him that he had fought until the end to destroy.

However, not many were satisfied with the duration of Shigaraki's sendoff. They expressed that it should have lasted for at least an entire chapter to do justice to his character.

"I feel like Shiggy needed at least a whole chapter. Maybe we'll get more next chapter," one fan wrote.
"Afo got a more heartfelt and less rushed conclusion than tomura..." said another.
"Is it just me or is anyone else kinda just not satisfied?" one fan asked.

A lot of people seemed to agree that Shigaraki's conclusion needed a bit more time, while others claimed that they were content with what they got in the chapter.

"Really feel like he needed one whole chapter for him to go properly, most of this chapter was the end of afo, shigaraki felt super rushed," one fan claimed.
"I think it was done well personally but I can see the frustration," another chimed in.
"I mean to be fair; no one said Shiggy needed to survive after the war. He caused too much destruction. Deku achieved his goal of freeing the crying boy," said another.
