The plot centers around Jougorou Kobato and Yuki Osanai. The former once had a bitter experience due to a detective activity called "wisdom work." After that, he takes it upon himself to become a pure and humble citizen. So, in secret, he chooses to enter into a "reciprocal relationship" with his classmate Yuki.

Yuki too had similar aspirations and had plans to make her high school debut as a small-time citizen and live a peaceful life. But, for strange reasons, mysterious happenings and disasters begin to come into their school life in succession.

If Shoshimin episode 1 adapts the source material's initial bits, Case 1 - The Stolen Pochette will soon begin and fans will likely be introduced to Jougorou as he experiences a strange dream. Following his introduction, Yuki too should step into the spotlight as he wakes up and vows to change himself.

Mamoru Kanbe will be in the director's seat at Studio Lapin Track during this broadcast. Alongside him, Toshiya Ono stands as series composer, Atsushi Saito will be handling character design and Takahiro Obata has taken up the responsibilities of music composer.

Moreover, the three-piece rock band Ammo will perform "I Tokenai" for the ending theme. The cast will feature the talented voices of Shuichiro Umeda (ZOM 100, Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie) as Jougorou, Hina Yomiya (Wonder Egg Priority, The Greatest Demon Lord is Reborn as a Typical Nobody) as Yuki and Makoto Furukawa (One Punch Man, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War) as Kengo Dojima.
