Shy plot summary
The Shy television anime series is set in a world where superheroes appeared globally to restore order, just as a Third World War was about to break out. After the threat of war was dealt with, each hero returned to a country in order to help domestically, with the heroes using the Space HQ space station to oversee and discuss matters on Earth. The story follows 14-year-old Teru Momijiyama, Japan’s hero representative, who is named ‘Shy’ due to her shyness.
She’s even unable to give a public speech on becoming Japan’s chosen hero, leaving in embarrassment. Things get worse when Shy fails to save Iko Koishikawa from a broken roller coaster, with Iko getting severely injured in the process. Tero is publicly blamed for the failure, causing her to slip into a deep depression and lose her powers. However, her closest friend, Russian Hero Spirit, is able to encourage her to try to be a hero again.
After saving a woman and child from a burning building, Iko is transferred to Teru’s high school since it’s closer to her home and, likewise, easier for her to travel. After the former thanks the latter for saving her, Iko and Teru get to know each other. However, Teru’s renewed conviction leads her to battle the villainous organization Amarariruku, led by Stigma, with the goal of creating an ideal world made just for children.
What to expect from Shy season 2 episode 1 (speculative)
Following Teru’s fight against Stigma and Amarariruku, Teru seems set to meet some new characters, given the plethora of additional castings made for the second season. It’s likely that Teru’s focus will now be turned to domestic matters in Japan, with some of these new characters helping to set up her next conflicts.
Shy season 2 episode 1 may also tease that the fight against Amarariruku isn’t quite over yet, especially considering how handily the evil group was seemingly defeated in the first season. While fans can definitely expect new threats and plotlines, it’s quite possible that the series still has some loose threads to tie up.
