Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga chapters had a brilliant start, and it has managed to keep the ball rolling despite a few blunders along the way. While the likes of Himawari are getting the spotlight, some have been sidelined ever since the beginning of this installment.
One such character in the manga series is Sumire. Those who have read the manga series will know that she is a deuteragonist who takes on a minor role in comparison to the likes of Kawaki and Sarada.
Since the manga chapters are being released on a monthly basis, fans have revisited older chapters as well as the previous installations of the series. There was a theory put forth by user u/Borusumi_ on Reddit, explaining the fate of the character. As per the theory, it involves Amado, the devious genius who has manipulated some of the most powerful shinobis in the village.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex fan theory proposes Sumire’s dark fate in the series
Sumire was introduced as a member of Team 15 and she also happened to be the representative of the class that Boruto studied in. She accompanied the likes of Sarada Uchiha and Boruto on various missions. Sumire was sidelined in the manga quite some time ago and she rarely received any screen time. However, there was one important moment in the manga when she was able to bypass the effects of Eida’s Omnipotence.
This particular fan theory states that Sumire could potentially be the vessel that Amado was looking for, in order to resurrect his daughter, Akebi Sanzu. This theory might seem a tad bit far-fetched at first, but there is some evidence that can back this claim. Amado managed to hire Sumire as his assistant and the manga later revealed that the former was informed about Sumire’s ulterior motives. Despite being privy to such information, he continued to let her work alongside him.
Therefore, logic dictates that Amado would benefit from this arrangement. Allowing Sumire to work alongside would allow him to keep a close eye on her. Given Amado’s skillset in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex series, his ability to extract information and data through observation is impeccable. This would allow him to assess the possibility of making Sumire the vessel to resurrect his daughter, since Konohagakure was monitoring him which in turn prevented him from creating effective clones.
Amado may have chosen Sumire since she managed to survive the Gozu Tenno. Karma Implantation is crucial to resurrecting Akebi. While there might not be any correlation between the two, it certainly is a positive indication regarding the vessel’s ability to withstand the Karma Implantation.
Another interesting connection between the two in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex lies in the meaning of the name. Akebi is an exotic fruit which is identified by its distinct purple color. The meaning of the word Sumire is violet or purple, thus indicating their connection. This is why fans believe that Sumire could be the vessel that Amado will need to resurrect Akebi. However, this is a fan theory and we urge the fanbase to wait for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex to confirm the same.
