Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 16, released on November 21, 2024, saw Sumire confess her feelings for the protagonist again. However, she confessed them before Sarada this time, creating an awkward atmosphere. This act of hers hinted that she might start playing her cards, and these acts might be similar to those of an anime character from a famous series.

Esdeath from Akame ga Kill died a miserable death at the hands of Akame. However, Tatsumi was also dying beside her. So, to avoid surviving and living alone, Esdeath used her power to freeze Tatsumi with her, and these two died together. While Sumire's timeline might not play similarly to her, she might still try her best to get together with the protagonist, just like Esdeath.

Boruto: Why Sumire's fate might be similar to Esdeath from Akame ga Kill

Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 16 saw Sarada, Eida, and Sumire sitting in their room as Sarada urged Eida to unveil the protagonist's location. However, Sumire interfered and urged that they shouldn't interrupt the protagonist because he could be striving for something he couldn't tell others.

Sarada remained unfazed and stated that he could get himself killed over something. Sumire then shifted the topic to how Sarada should think of the protagonist's feelings. She brought in her feelings and mocked Sarada for not caring about them when she jumped into the protagonist's arms (when he returned to the village).

Sumire then rushed out of the room. While her outburst of feelings could be considered fair, considering how she held them back since the protagonist returned to the village, her acts might be the start of something. Sumire might team up with Kawaki to capture the protagonist, hoping to get to her lover before Sarada.

While this act might seem nonsensical, it might be her only choice. However, her obsession with the protagonist might seem similar to a famous anime antagonist whose selfish death showed signs of selfishness. That anime antagonist was Esdeath from Akame ga Kill, who couldn't let go of Tatsumi, the male protagonist, in her last moments.

During the last battle against Akame, Esdeath was on her final breaths after getting outclassed by the protagonist's trump card, Murasame's cursed blade. As she was about to die, she froze herself using her powers and enveloped the male protagonist, Tatsumi, inside the same ice. The reason behind it was Esdeath's obsession with Tatsumi, and she didn't want any of them to survive and lead a lonely life.

While this act showcased her love for the protagonist, it also showed her selfishness as she couldn't let go of her feelings with death standing before her. While Sumire's feelings for Boruto might not be to this extent, her future acts might be the toned-down version of Esdeath's death.

Final thoughts

As stated, Sumire's nature does not allow her to act like Esdeath, though she might do something similar to what the latter did in her last moments. Sumire, possibly teaming up with Kawaki to achieve Boruto, represents her obsession with the protagonist, which is why she could be considered similar to the Akame ga Kill's antagonist.
