Black Clover by Yuki Tabata is one of the more popular new-generation shonen manga that reached mainstream popularity and acclaim. Although its success was later overshadowed by Jujutsu Kaisen's sudden break into mainstream anime discussions, it remained one of the more consistent stories in the genre.

Black Clover shifted magazines from Weekly Shonen Jump to Jump Giga and changed its release schedule from being a weekly manga to a quarterly manga. After the shift, Tabata managed to release almost two chapters every three to four months, but the next issue of Jump Giga will contain three new chapters, compiling up to 61 new pages.

Given that the recent ending of Jujutsu Kaisen has strengthened the argument behind every shonen having a bad ending, almost every shonen fan is currently hoping for Yuki Tabata to end his story on a good note.

Black Clover is shonen fans' only hope left

Black Clover is steadily approaching its end, with almost all of its competitors, like Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia, having concluded in recent years. Jujutsu Kaisen will officially end on September 29, 2024, leaving Yuki Tabata's series as the only remaining new-generation shonen.

The recent news about Black Clover releasing three chapters instead of the usual two has excited fans and ignited hope for an ending that won’t be universally hated.

Fan reaction to the announcement of new chapters

Many fans have expressed their anticipation for the upcoming chapters, wondering about their actual content, especially since Black Clover is nearing its conclusion. Some fans have shared that it would be enough if Tabata delivered a decent ending, as the standard for endings has reached an all-time low.

Others pointed out that the slower pacing, resulting from the quarterly release schedule, may have prompted Tabata to pick up the pace.

"YUKI TABATA, GIVE US AN EVEN HALFWAY DECENT ENDING AND MY LIFE IS YOURS," one fan said.
"LMAOOO Tabata heard us complaining bout pacing and decided to do this," another fan said.

Alleged spoilers of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 have essentially marked the manga's ending, and many fans believe that Yuki Tabata might have been waiting for Gege Akutami to finish to adjust his own pacing. Others have expressed renewed faith in Tabata since Jujutsu Kaisen's ending has garnered widespread criticism.

"He just waiting for Gege to retire to pick up the pace 😭," one fan claimed.
"after the jjk ending, i have 3 words to say, tabata, save us," another fan claimed.

The three new chapters of the Black Clover manga will be released on November 15, 2024, in Jump GIGA's Autumn issue. The manga is currently available to read on Shueisha's MANGA Plus platform.
