"Thank you Gege Akutami"- from snarky to genuine, fans show their appreciation as Jujutsu Kaisen ends

With the Jujutsu Kaisen manga set to end with chapter 271 on Monday, September 30, 2024, it is finally time for manga fans to bid farewell to the popular Weekly Shonen Jump series. Hence, just as fans wait for the manga leakers to post the spoilers for the final chapter online, they have begun thanking manga creator Gege Akutami for his work.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga, written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, began its serialization in March 2018. Since then, the manga has been compiled into 28 volumes with the final two volumes set to release after the series' end. The manga will conclude with chapter 271 in September 2024.

Jujutsu Kaisen's nearing conclusion sees fans thanking Gege Akutami

With the Jujutsu Kaisen manga inching closer to its conclusion, fans believed that the manga was set to get a sequel series. However, with the leaks that have come out till now, it has been suggested that there will be no sequel for the manga. Instead, manga creator Gege Akutami will be creating a new manga series altogether.

This effectively means that the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 is set to be the manga's final chapter. Hence, fans started showing their appreciation for the manga series by thanking manga creator Gege Akutami. However, not all fans were appreciative of the creator, and instead, they used the opportunity to mock them and their series snarkily.


How fans appreciated Gege Akutami

Many fans were very appreciative of Gege Akutami's work and thanked the manga creator for the work they had put into the series in the last six and half years. While the series had left them with many painful memories due to the deaths of some fan-favorite characters, they were certain that they would never be able to forget the manga.

"I’ll never forget this series," one fan said.
"Honestly, regardless of how it ends jjk will always hold a very special place in my heart. i don’t believe in disregarding all of the times I’ve absolutely adored this story just bc the ending may not be what I envisioned, " another said.

As for others, the manga series held a special place in their hearts. They loved the moments when they absolutely adored the series. Hence, no matter how the series would end, they wished to thank the creator for their work.

Meanwhile, other fans were not so appreciative of Akutami's work. Some of them had lost their favorite characters to the plot; hence, they could not say they truly enjoyed reading the series.

"why the HELL would i THANK HIM," another added.
"#ThankYouGegeAkutami for putting down the pen holy s*it," another fan said.
"Hold up so the whole merger sideplot was all for f**k all??," a fan said.

As for other fans, they thanked the creator, not for their work, but for finally ending the manga series. They commented that never liked the series; hence, they took the opportunity to troll the series' creator online. Lastly, one fan pointed out how the entire Kenjaku-Tengen-Merger subplot was never given a decent conclusion, and so, that plotline was effectively useless.
