That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 22, titled The Battle with the Hero, was released on September 13, 2024, on Nippon Television in Japan. The episode continued the Battle Tournament and saw the grand finale between Gobta and Masayuki the Lightspeed Hero.

However, the battle ended unexpectedly, with Masayuki forfeiting the match. As a result, Gobta was declared the winner. That said, the crowd fully supported Masayuki as a result of his unique passive skill. Rimuru Tempest learned from the Great Sage about Masayuki's skill and invited him to lunch.

During the lunch, the Hero realized Rimuru's actual vision and vowed to serve him. Besides that, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 22 saw Rimuru Tempest gain Elmesia as his new ally. She promised to help Rimuru with the gold coin shortage.

Picking up the events from the previous episode, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 22 begins with Rimuru telling his executives and Mjollmile that he consulted Gazel about the gold coins crisis. The Dwargon Kingdom's emperor promises the Demon Lord 1500 gold coins.

However, Rimuru realizes it's still not enough. At that moment, Elmesia, the Sorcerous Dynasty of Sarion's empress, arrives at the room. She tells the Slime that she can make up the differences. However, in exchange for providing support, she wants Rimuru to invite her to every grand festival the town holds in the future.

Elmesia feels the royalties aren't slaves to their people. If they can live freely, that will only make their citizens happy. Rimuru shares the same vision, so he agrees with Elmesia's deal. She assures Rimuru more coins, should he need them. Rimuru requests Gazel to get 1500 gold coins exchanged at Dwargon, to which he agrees. Meanwhile, Elmesia feels someone has cunningly played their cards to try to disrupt Rimuru's festival.

At the same time, she asks Rimuru about Diablo. Elmesia wonders what the Demon Lord would do if Diablo, a primal demon, runs amok. Rimuru understands Elmesia's worry. However, he assures the elf that he will stop Diablo, should he ever go against his will.

Interestingly, Diablo seems to like Rimuru's words. Elmesia is mightily impressed by the Slime's prompt answer. She understands the Slime's vision and wants to maintain their friendly relations.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 22 then shows Elmesia officially acknowledging the friendly ties between the Sorcerous Dynasty of Sarion and the Jura Tempest Federation.

She tells Elrad to handle the paperwork. The elven lady implores Rimuru not to hesitate to contact her and Gazel, should he ever need help. At the same time, she reminds the Slime not to forget about his earlier promise. Moreover, she requests Rimuru to introduce her to Yoshida, to which he agrees.

The narrative for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 22 switches to the arena, where Shoka, the announcer, begins the Battle Tournament's final match between Masayuki the Lightspeed hero, and Gobta. Masayuki stands terrified, unable to imagine how he can battle a fierce opponent like Gobta.

He recalls the match against Boyix and feels if he doesn't do anything, his passive skill will somehow let him survive. Just as he expected, Gobta charges at the hero but backs off seeing him not moving an inch. The Goblin feels Masayuki isn't an easy foe whom he can charge head-on

As such, he decides to show his ultimate power, i.e., a new skill called Summon Demon Wolf, which he obtained the previous night. Gobta's new skill allows him to fuse with the summoned Ranga. Rimuru wonders if Ranga can properly use it without any practice.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 22 then shows Gobta fusing with Ranga to transform into a terrifying being. Honjo Masayuki feels he has no chance of defeating the monster and his death is imminent. Meanwhile, Milim is intrigued by the goblin's new move.

However, Gobta fumbles it as he swiftly dashes at Masayuki, only to crash against the wall. Milim gets furious at Gobta's anticlimactic attempt, and she tells Rimuru to allow her to train Gobta for a while. The Demon Lord promises to turn him into a fine warrior.

Rimuru, who knows about Milim's harsh methods, sends Gobta his condolences. Meanwhile, Masayuki regains his composure and notices Gobta in an unconscious state. He feels he must do something before the authorities announce him as the winner. Masayuki doesn't want to face Rimuru Tempest because he can't imagine fighting against a Demon Lord.

As such, he forfeits from the match. Masayuki's decision leaves the crowd perplexed. But, as a result of the passive skill, The Chosen One, they begin to believe their hero must have given the Demon Lord a reprieve by handing over the win to Gobta.

Rimuru becomes shocked as hero Masayuki's name reverberates throughout the stadium. The Great Sage predicts it's perhaps due to the effect of a unique skill Masayuki possesses, which affects the people and the surroundings, manipulating them akin to mind control.

Rimuru thinks it's best to befriend Masayuki than make him an enemy. He orders Soei to courteously invite Masayuki for lunch at his mansion. The Majin accepts Rimuru's request and leaves.

Meanwhile, Gobta regains his consciousness and finds out about his victory. Rimuru officially declares Gobta as the fourth member of the Big Four. The goblin is ecstatic over the win, but he soon learns about the harsh training he has to undergo with Milim in the dungeons.

The narrative for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 22 then switches the location to Rimuru's mansion, where Honjo Masayuki attends the lunch invitation. The hero appears slightly nervous around Rimuru at first, but once he learns about Slime's origin, he becomes more free.

Following that, the episode shows Rimuru sharing a heartfelt conversation with Masayuki, regarding his future plans with Tempest. The Slime also acknowledges the wonderful skill Masayuki has. He implores the hero to advertise the dungeon since he has already decided to enter it.

The Slime also assures Masayuki of his safety since he now knows the hero's true nature. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 22 ends with Rimuru gaining a new ally in Masayuki, with whom he shares the same interest in manga.
