The Chainsaw Man manga revealed its third confirmed Primal Fear, which turned out to be the Aging Devil. Before this reveal, the Fallen Devil and Darkness Devil were the only examples of Primal Fears available to readers. However, neither of these devils exhibited any form of "evil for the sake of evil."
In contrast, the Aging Devil's peculiar deal involving the sacrifice of Japanese infants in front of mirrors has arguably made it the most sinister and "petty" devil revealed in the series so far.

Chainsaw Man: The Aging Devil's sinister deal might be to help a different devil
In Chainsaw Man chapter 174, the true identity of the new devil introduced in chapter 173 was revealed. Although the devil’s theme and peculiar intelligence sparked theories about it being associated with mutilation, it turned out to be the “Aging Devil.”
Chapter 173 focused on establishing that the Ear Devil’s consumption was deliberately planned by the Public Safety Department to test the Hero of Hell's concept-erasing ability and its effects on the associated concept. While Chapter 174 disclosed details such as the continued function of hearing in a world without ears, the main highlight was the ominous deal between the Public Safety Department and the Aging Devil.
Although the Aging Devil agreed to be consumed by the Hero of Hell, its terms were quite unsettling. It demanded the sacrifice of ten thousand “infants” under the age of 9 in front of mirrors, which hinted at how petty the Aging Devil might be.
The concept of devils being purely evil has been well-established across various media, but the Aging Devil’s terms depict the first instance of a devil being evil simply for the sake of it. It’s important to note that the sacrifice offers no benefit to the Aging Devil since it will soon be consumed by the Hero of Hell.
The first instance of communication between humans and the Aging Devil was shown to be through mirrors, where the Public Safety Department had to “meet” and write characters on the mirror with blood to convey something to the primordial devil. This suggests that the sacrifice of “infants” might be purely for entertainment and pleasure
The actual results and nuances of concept erasure remain a mystery, and the true consequences of Chainsaw Man erasing something are still unknown. This leaves room for the possibility that the Aging Devil is trying to paint humans as evil, given that they are making such a significant and immoral sacrifice to obtain the erasure of aging, which may or may not benefit them. In the end, this entire sacrifice could result in a net loss for humanity.
Final Thoughts
Primordial devils haven’t previously been established to have alliances, but the Aging Devil may be orchestrating the sacrifice of those ten thousand “infants” to either strengthen itself or, more likely, to benefit the Death Devil. Chapter 175 will be released on August 20, 2024.
