Boruto has improved in some people's estimations since the beginning of the Two Blue Vortex time-skip, additionally, there are a lot of speculations regarding how the series is going to end. However, there is a section of the fanbase that thinks the best way for the story to conclude is for the protagonist to end up on his own and just focus on protecting people as a rogue ninja.
Part of the appeal of the Two Blue Vortex portion of the story is that Boruto has been placed as an underdog since Eida's Omnipotence has made the people around him believe he is a traitor. It would be an interesting conclusion for the story that he never manages to recover from this event and has to live as a rogue ninja for the rest of his life, although this comes with its own set of issues.

Boruto's best ending might be where he ends up on his own
There is no denying that this would be one of the saddest and most divisive conclusions for the character but also one of the boldest. That is something that could also fit with his characterization in recent storylines of the manga, particularly now that Eida's Omnipotence has had people believe that he is a major threat and a traitor, which could easily set up this ending.
Moreover, it would be a direct contrast to his father, Naruto, who started as an outcast in the Hidden Leaf Village and eventually became their hero. It was often criticized that his son had everything given on a silver platter and was a strong contrast to his father, so this change and conclusion would actually serve from a thematic perspective.
The biggest issue would be that very few fans would want to see their hero go through so many obstacles and adversity, only for him to not gain anything in the end. This is something that was recently shown with the ending of Izuku "Deku" Midoriya in My Hero Academia and is something that a lot of fans should also take into account.
What could happen in the coming chapters
The most recent chapters of the manga have served as a transition of sorts for a new arc, with the main character mostly telling Shikamaru about the nature of the Shinju clones and what they were going after. However, as the people of the Hidden Leaf Village were going to use Mitsuki as a different way to torture the protagonist, Orochimaru's son used this chance to free him and allow him to escape.
Perhaps the most important plot point, and one that is going to be the basis for the upcoming arc, is the fact that the Sand Village was attacked and Shinki became the model for a new clone, named Ryu. This means that there is a new threat to deal with and the clones are spreading across the land, making things more difficult for Boruto and the people of the Hidden Leaf Village.
Final thoughts
The idea of Boruto not getting a happy ending and being the one who ends up on his own, protecting everyone from the shadows, is a fairly unique one. It doesn't happen in Battle Shonen but there is also an argument to be made that would be a small reward for a character who has been sacrificing so much recently.
