The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor episode 5 was released on November 6, 2024. As expected, the episode saw the arrival of Prince Gerald to the hometown of Prince Hadis in hopes of retrieving Jill. However, as Jill was aware of the former prince's personality, she again rejected his marriage invitation, but Gerald wasn't ready to give up so early.

Where things got pretty messed up for Hadis and his kingdom, the same could be said for the animation which seemed to be worse than before. As showcased in the previous episodes, the anime series featured an animation where characters shifted emotions by popping images.

Not only did this feature become more repeated than usual, but some animation sequences also looked amateurish.

The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor episode 5, titled When Seeking the Truth, Things Turned into an Argument, so I Can No Longer Do Anything, commenced with Prince Gerald on a ship headed towards Prince Hadis' Kingdom. On Jill's side, everyone was preparing for the arrival of Prince Gerald, but the female protagonist wasn't so fond of meeting him.

After Hadis arrived, him and Jill were on their way to the meeting room to give Prince Gerald a warm welcome. They just had to show him that Jill was happy with Hadis, but Gerald's sudden arrival had spoiled the mood. So, to calm Jill down, Hadis kissed her. Unfortunately, it backfired, as Jill slapped him.

As expected, when these two went to meet Prince Gerald, the first thing he asked about was the slap mark on Hadis' face. Hadis kept things straightforward and told Gerald that this was just due to a lover's quarrel between him and Jill. As expected, Jill joined in and asked Gerald to leave because Hadis needed her at his kingdom.

Strangely, Gerald was calm and said that the only thing he needed to steal Jill away was to take her away from Hadis. Just as he spoke these words, The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor episode 5 saw the arrival of a soldier who broke the news of Marquees Beil's death in jail. Jill was suspicious of Gerald because of his strange words regarding Prince Hadis.

The next day, the people around the kingdom started talking about their leader's curse, which could get them killed (as the people thought it was what killed Marquees Beil). Meanwhile, Jill was planning a counter against the voices of the masses. Suddenly, Princess Sphere appeared in Jill's room as she emitted a strange aura.

Due to her father's recent death, Jill tried being gentle with her, but she was possessed by the previous wife of the Dragon Emperor who wanted Jill's head. Hadis' sudden arrival saved Jill but he was adamant on killing Sphere.

However, Jill was against it because the one manipulating the princess was the spirit. The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor episode 5 ended with Jill and Hadis fighting over the same issue as people all around the kingdom started going berserk because they wanted Hadis' head in fear that his curse might also affect them.

As expected, with the series not being one of the spotlights of the Fall 2024 Anime Season, the animation quality drop could be witnessed in The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor episode 5.

As showcased in the previous episodes, a transition in a character's emotions is usually shown through pop-up images. Although this isn't the smoothest way to show such a transition, because it becomes noticeable after repetition, it wasn't that big of an issue.

However, with the continuous pop-up transitions in The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor episode 5, the anime might be destined for an animation quality shift. Moreover, but some things also hinted at this, including some mediocrely managed animation panels used for fight scenes.

The prime example was Prince Hadis' fight against the kingdom's soldiers at the end of the episode. However, with the plotline still intact and becoming interesting with every possible episode, things might still be bright for The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor.
