The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor episode 8 review: Jill faces a hard time against a dragon as she meets new people as a Dragon Knight
The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor episode 8, titled I, the Dragon Consort, Am Now Hated by the Dragon and I Want to Find a Way to Be Friendly Again, commenced with Jill and Zeke leaving for their new jobs as Dragon Knights. As expected, the female protagonist was excited over the new beginning of her life.
While they were on their way, a shop vendor told them that today would be their dragon initiation—a first-day workshop where new Dragon Knights face Princess Elynsia's dragon. The dragon's reactions to each candidate reveal what their future holds. As Jill and Zeke arrived, they joined the line for this workshop. First came the turn of Zeke, who the dragon brushed off, but it was a good sign.
This was followed by numerous candidates who were either attacked by the dragon or ignored. Finally came the turn of Jill, and she expected a positive reaction from the dragon (as she was the Dragon Consort). Much to her surprise, the dragon attacked her, and with a timely interruption from Princess Elynsia, the female protagonist was saved.
The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor episode 8 then saw Jil return home in a depressed mood. Seeing her distress and hearing what happened from Zeke, Prince Hadis became furious and announced that he would kill the dragon at any cost. However, at Jill's insistence, he was stopped, and she revealed her wish to tame a golden-eyed dragon.
Jill was stationed on another side of the Empire the next day due to her recent experience with a dragon. While patrolling, she met another rookie Dragon Knight named Lawrence. Immediately after looking at him, she recognized him. In Jill's previous life, Lawrence was a fellow soldier known for his dedication to his profession.
As they met, they got to know each other and became fast friends. While they walked, they were interrupted by Prince Listeard, Hadis' brother. He escorted Jill to Princess Elynsia's office. The princess revealed that her dragon rebelled against Jill because he saw her as a potential threat, meaning that Jill was powerful.
Seizing the opportunity, The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor episode 8 saw Prince Listeard steal Jill away from Elynsia and take her to a spot where he could test her talent. As expected, he faced the same results as Elynsia and started speculating whether she was related to his brother.
Jill returned home after getting Risteard off her back, but he followed her. He discovered that Prince Hades was living a quiet life near the Empire. So, he starts convincing Hades to return to the Empire, but the male protagonist denies all the invites from his brother.
The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor episode 8 review: The lore around the Dragon Consort becomes confusing
In episode 1, after Jill married Prince Hades, she was declared the new Dragon Consort. However, despite being the Dragon bride, she faces a rebellious reaction from a dragon in The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor episode 8, confusing her title.
This might have to do with her being rejected by the previous Dragon Consort (the one she battled in the previous episode). However, nothing can be said about this, considering how the series is still building the lore around her character.
