The previous episode of The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses opened with Kaede Komura discussing the upcoming Cultural Festival with his mother. At school, he and Mie spent some quality time together, further helping Asuka and Someya with the final preparation for the event by staying late at school.

At that time, Mie received a text from his mother, prompting her to head home. However, she mistakenly grabbed Komura's shoes instead of hers. Sensing Mie's mother could rebuke her for staying late, Komura followed her and visited her house. He then covered for Mie and even returned her own shoes that she had left at school.
