Boruto: Two Blue Vortex: Latest chapter confirms that multiverse exists
To begin with, Boruto's interaction with Kashin Koji gained a lot of attention when it was initially teased to be part of chapter 13. Now, with a certain bit of information disclosed about the latest chapter, it is all but confirmed that multiverse exists in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Needless to say, it exceeded expectations in what was revealed when the two spoke. As it stands, Boruto with Kawaki, Sarada Uchiha, Himawari Uzumaki, the Shinju, and more, exist as part of one of the many timelines. Due to past decisions, the future was twisted multiple times which led to "branches" being created with alternative futures.
As Koji stated in one timeline, Naruto Uzumaki failed to beat Isshiki Otsutsuki despite using Baryon Mode. As a result, the latter reincarnated in Kawaki, planted the God Tree, and destroyed the world. In another timeline, Kawaki sealed away Naruto and Hinata. Then, he killed Boruto and Sarada. Kawaki was later humiliated and killed by Code. These were the possible future scenarios that had been avoided.
But even so, there were some scenarios that hadn't happened and held the possibility of coming true. Such information from Koji meant that every single key event that happened so far altered the future in some way and created an alternate timeline. Hence, thus far, the worst had been avoided, but there was no guarantee that it was over.
Further, Koji was able to see all this due to an ability he called "Ten Directions". This allowed him to glance into all possible futures before any one of them happened. As he stated, stories branched out at the crossroads where selection happened, i.e., key decisions were taken.
These decisions had a major effect on what would happen next. For instance, in a certain case, Boruto was supposed to die but Sarada awakened her Mangekyo Sharingan and the ensuing events prevented his death - this created a new branch of reality. Similar to this example, a couple of "selections" were made which created alternative pathways.
Final Thoughts
Previously, Kashin Koji was showcased to be a dangerous opponent who possessed formidable skill and battle prowess. Now, with the revelation of an ability such as this one, it would take him a step up on the power scale. Moreover, his "Ten Directions" might just prove to be crucial in beating the Shinju. Finally, the existence of multiverse opened up infinite possibilities to mold the story which will likely be revealed with time.
Despite the considerable gap between consecutive chapter releases, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has been quite impressive so far. While there are still various ways to go regarding the story, this manga could very well be on the path to becoming great, like its predecessor.
