The first episode begins with the narrator describing the Abyss and the Void. On a fateful night, the Abyssal Depth reaches 12, summoning a beast known as Lord from the Void. Overdeath, an elderly warrior, instructs his grandson Noel to flee, vowing to protect their town.

Overdeath fights valiantly but is fatally wounded. Before dying, he asks Noel if he still wants to be a Seeker, to which Noel replies with determination. Overdeath revealed to be Brandon Stollen, the strongest Seeker, dies in Noel's arms.
