My Hero Academia epilogue started on June 10, 2023, with the release of chapter 425. The release of this chapter also hinted at the future of the My Hero Academia sequel in many ways, with the most prominent reason being the mysterious man who was running through the streets.

Moreover, it was also announced that the series is set to end in five chapters on August 5, 2024, which also adds to the chances of a potential sequel for Kohei Horikoshi's magnum opus.

The My Hero Academia sequel could be centered around this mysterious character, who could be a villain left alive after the events of the final war. He could return when the students had entered their practical lives and would again have to buckle up as the heroes of society.

My Hero Academia epilogue chapter commenced with the third-year students of the U.A. High School graduating and receiving their diplomas. After the ceremony, Mirio delivered a heartfelt speech and dedicated it to his teacher, Nighteye.

On the other hand, Deku's class was promoted to the next year, and they retained their homeroom teacher, Aizawa. The atmosphere was very suffocating, as Deku's talk with Uraraka didn't go well, and Todoroki teased an event that could be related to his brother, Dabi.

Lastly, an eerie detail in the chapter had fans wondering whether it would be explained in the last five chapters or in a My Hero Academia sequel. The detail was regarding a mysterious personality that ran through the streets of the city. He was showcased as a crying man in an injured state.

As the series is set to end on August 5, 2024, with just five more chapters, even though Kohei Horikoshi admitted that his manga's epilogue would go on 'for a while,' there are chances that he would put light on this mysterious person again.

So, this could mean that the My Hero Academia sequel could be in the works. This could also be indicated by the additional two-week break the author took after the My Hero Academia epilogue chapter, as he could have made up his mind regarding a sequel and announced that the series is set to end in five more chapters. The sequel could see this villain's origins as the heroes try to defeat him.

Final thoughts

My Hero Academia epilogue chapter unveiled a lot of mysteries, which makes the series ending in five more chapters not make much sense. It could mean that these chapters could either miss some mysteries or be entirely centered around revealing them.

In such a scenario, the only logical answer that can come to mind is that the My Hero Academia sequel could already be a reality. However, take this information with a piece of salt, as there is no telling what Kohei Horikoshi might be thinking, and more information will be released with the release of the next chapter (chapter 426) on July 1, 2024.
