The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 2 was released on Sunday, October 13th, 2024. It followed up on the season opener that saw the climax of the Chaos in Liones arc, where Arthur Pendragon made an in-person appearance and fought with the main characters.

The second episode showcases the aftermath of the arc, showing the Four Knights and Percival's group preparing for the long journey to Camelot and dealing with a few revelations while also starting some character arcs. Meeting with King Meliodas and Queen Elizabeth is only the start of the new journey and finally leaving Liones behind.

Although episode 1 showed Percival and his main company having fallen asleep almost right away after helping rebuild and heal the people of Liones, Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 2 shows the other knights weren't so lucky as to have a good night. Each of them deals with the chaotic aftermath in their own way, having a night to cool off and think.

Lancelot is still confounded by Jericho's feelings for him and Guinevere's as well. Thetis, Liones' top mage and Elizabeth's bodyguard, arguing with him about Liones' losses and the loss of the prisoner of war does little to calm his mind, though he thinks back on Guinevere as a silly child. Guinevere, meanwhile, is looking forward to reuniting with Lancelot.

Tristan and Gawain both have the worst times getting sleep. As Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 2 reveals, Tristan is tired of his parents, Meliodas and Elizabeth, treating him like a child and trains into the dead of night. Gawain, meanwhile, is haunted over potentially being sent back home in disgrace.

The king and queen and the parting of the ways

Meeting both King Meliodas and Queen Elizabeth came as quite a shock to Percival's group, especially Ann who wasn't prepared for Meliodas to have such a childlike appearance. None of them were prepared for Tristan being Meliodas and Elizabeth's child either.

The reveal in Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 2 that shocked Percival was the idea that his friends would be parting ways with him, according to Meliodas. They all figured that with Percival being one of the prophesized Four Knights, they'd all go their separate ways. He'd journey along with the other Knights of the Apocalypse, while they'd continue training as Holy Knights.

After many tears were shed, Meliodas cleared up the misunderstanding. He knighted all of them and explained he meant letting go of the past and moving forward. In short, the party isn't splitting up any time soon. As Percival said, the only reason why he was alive and made it as far as Liones was thanks to his team.

The Real Meeting and stakes

After that spot of misunderstanding, the true meeting began with the Four Knights, Percival's team, and Tristan's team all gathered to meet with King Meliodas and Thetis. After a round of introductions, their purpose was revealed: they were to destroy Camelot. That's what the prophecy of "destroying the world" really meant, something that Lancelot had previously mentioned in episode 3 of the previous season but never clarified.

Although Camelot's physical location is not in the physical realm, sequestered away in another dimension thanks to Arthur's Chaos magic, its existence adversely affects the physical world. Entire mountains, lakes, and villages are carved out of the physical world to sustain and expand Camelot's existence. Lives, ecosystems, and entire places are erased when this happens.

Varghese, Percival's grandfather, came to Meliodas to warn him of Arthur's Chaos magic poisoning his mind. Meliodas offered to adopt Percival, but Varghese refused. Varghese stated he'd raise Percival himself and die to protect him if need be. Meliodas was proud that he kept his promise, and Percival was incensed enough to suggest immediately storming Camelot.

The other prophecy hinders plans and a way forward

The ominous second prophecy from episode 18 came to pass and hindered any counterattack. Thetis repeated it so everyone could hear, and explained what happened. The Four Knights gathered but hope was lost thanks to the traitorous Jericho killing the prisoner of war.

As Meliodas explained, Camelot's Chaos Knights are personally given emblems by Arthur Pendragon that bypass the barrier separating it from the physical world. The prisoner's death prevents any of Liones' forces from entering Camelot, alongside the four non-human clans of the fae, giants, goddesses, and demons.

Meliodas reveals he can't enter because he's a demon, as an example. Lancelot and Tristan, however, are mixed race and should be able to enter alongside the others. Although there's no concrete plan, Percival boosts everyone's spirits by saying they should adventure together to see Britannia's sights and find a way into Camelot along the way.

Final Thoughts

Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 2 is a transitionary episode and a much-needed break from the constant fighting seen in the Chaos in Liones arc. The Chaos in Liones arc is the longest of Four Knights of the Apocalypse's story arcs in both manga and anime form, comprising 31 manga chapters and eight anime episodes in its entirety.

With Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 2, the Wolnack Arc began. The heroes have a lot to see and do before they're ready to confront Arthur, as the fight with two of the reborn Ten Commandments and getting whipped against Arthur shows.

Until then, a new adventure has begun and the group has expanded. It'll be interesting to see how everyone does, and doesn't, get along as they head out on the road.
