The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 4 premiered on October 27, 2024. Picking up where episode 3 left off, episode 4 continued Percival's group's quest and saw them enter the town of Wolnack just in time for the annual Memorial Festival.
Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 4 officially starts the Wolnack arc, after episodes 2 and 3 served as the epilogue to the Chaos in Liones arc. The episode mainly offers two perspectives: the villains (Arthur and Ironside) and the heroes (Percival's group). The first perspective is shown in the first half of the episode, which directly continues from Guinevere's kidnapping, and the second shows the events in Wolnack.

The reason for Ironside's devotion is revealed
Although Ironside insisted on guiding Guinevere directly to Arthur after bringing her there in episode 3, Guin stated she knew where to go. After bickering between them, Ironside is frozen in his tracks by a prophecy from Guin: Ironside is destined to die in his beloved son's arms while coughing up blood.
Many Four Knights of the Apocalypse viewers may be confused, since Ironside has only ever treated Percival with contempt. However, Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 4 reveals that Ironside has another child: a young white-haired boy named Diodara.
Brief flashbacks show that Ironside's wife died from sickness and that Diodara is only safe so long as he remains in Camelot. This also showcases a drastic about-face for the Chaos Knight of Camelot—from a cold, uncompromising warrior to a devout, loving father. Diodara, while sickly, is largely innocent of his father's deeds and Ironside aims to keep it that way.
Guinevere confronts Arthur
The meeting between Arthur and Guinevere in Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 4 was very frosty from the jump. Arthur pretended to be a kind and gracious host, letting Guinevere know she had the full range of the place and that he wasn't interested in her as a wife. The only thing he was after, as Guin figured, was her Kalidescope power.
Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 4 reveals several important details following their confrontation. These include the reveal that the "Merlin" following Arthur around isn't Merlin but a glamour charm placed on random fae that Arthur can dispose of at leisure and Guin's prediction of where the Four Knights and company will stop.
On the first point, Arthur reveals this by having the fae woman impersonating Merlin killed with ease. To the second, Guin predicts that Percival's group will stop at the Gogmagog Inn in Wolnack to enjoy the annual Requiem Festival.
She also predicts that despite two of Arthur's minions (Macduff and Teaninich) efforts to kill them, Lancelot will deal with them, and with everyone else, none the wiser. Arthur then calls for more personnel to be sent there, tempting fate despite Guin's repeated warnings.
The town of Wolnack, the festival, and sleeping arrangements
Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 4 introduces the town of Wolnack and the Requiem Festival. The town of Wolnack (Walnack in the anime) is a relay point between Liones and Dalmary, characterized by its large walls built into a nearby mountain. Many roads converge in the town and it's a crucial trade hub, so attacks are common on its walls.
The Requiem Festival is an annual festival where everyone walks through town and prays for the souls of the dead with lit torches. Lancelot tries to keep everyone on task, including immediately heading toward the Gogmagog Inn and letting them know they're setting out for Dalmary in the morning. However, the entire group gets distracted by the room-sharing arrangements and the possibility of going to the Festival anyway.
The assignments were done, then redone, via rock-paper-scissors and end up as follows:
- Chion, Lancelot, and Percival share a room.
- Ann, Gawain, and Isodle share a room.
- Donnie, Nasiens, and Jade share a room.
- Tristan is forced to room with a strange woman who seems keen on seducing him.
The group bonds
Stopping to have everyone converse is a key element of Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 4, especially considering all of their hangups with each other. The girls decide to go to the Festival after ignoring Gawain's attempts at flirting with them. They also talk about Isodle's feelings towards Tristan and how paranoid she is about Tristan.
Chion, Lancelot, and Percival all have their own goals. Percival wants to have fun at the festival, Chion is paranoid about Tristan about the same as Isodle is, and Lancelot is constantly on his toes since he senses they're being watched but cannot pinpoint the source. So while Lancelot stayed behind, everyone else went to the festival.
Donnie, Nasiens, and Jade manage to bond. First, they discuss not keeping secrets from each other since Jade feels guilty about Chion's attitude. Second, they discuss who they are all thinking about romantically. Jade likes both Tristan and Isolde. Nasiens reveals his crush on Ann, which harkens back to episode 3. Donnie prefers older women like Queen Elizabeth. They also decide to attend the festival.
The lurking threats
As per Guin's prophecy early on in Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 4, Macduff and Teaninich are in the same inn as Percival and company. Their dynamic is that Teaninich is more serious about their job than Macduff is. Teaninich was flustered and upset when Percival accidentally caught her changing, but Macduff shrugged her off rather aloofly.
Once they confirmed their targets are in the same inn, Teaninich wants to attack them immediately. Macduff's aloof attitude triumphs over hers when he warns her that doing so right then and there is far too risky; they should enjoy the festival and attempt the assassination later.
The other problem, at least for Isodle and Chion, is the woman trying to seduce Tristan. The two burst in on Tristan trying to help the woman button up her shirt, thinking something far more amorous was happening. The tension heads in a colder direction when the woman whispers that she knows Tristan's true identity as a Knight of the Apocalypse as everyone heads to the festival.
Final thoughts
Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 4 provides a lot for an episode that will undoubtedly feel like filler to some. The introduction of Diodara humanizes Ironside, who was previously a cold and devout worshipper of Arthurs' vision to the extreme.
On that note, Arthur holding Guin captive is a major problem for the heroes. Oracles and foretellers of the future working for villains don't usually spell good news for the heroes. Arthur sending further support to Macduff and Teaninich will lead to disaster for Percival's company since that's the case.
In any event, Four Knights of the Apocalypse season 2 episode 4 is more of a slower episode to get the audience clued in on what's happening next. The villains have more advantages, the journey is continuing and finally out of Liones, and some romantic pairings might blossom as the series continues.
