Why are netizens comparing Jujutsu Kaisen to Tokyo Revengers?

One of the things that Tokyo Revengers is infamous for is the mysterious reappearance of dead characters. This manga's conclusion was heavily criticized due to the revival of many important characters. Characters like Draken and Emma Sanno were revived with Mikey’s final time leap.

The deaths had plenty of emotional impact, and it served as an important plot point in the story. However, the revival of these characters undercut the emotional impact in the end.

Similarly, chapter 269 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series showcased the return of a dead character. Higuruma, who had one of the most interesting Cursed Techniques, returned to life after his demise in chapter 247.

There was enough evidence to show that he was dead when Sukuna launched his Dismantle from a point-blank range. This was after the former failed to neutralize Sukuna with his Executioner’s Sword. The spoilers showed that Higuruma survived Sukuna’s attacks, and Yuta Okkotsu also managed to cling to his life.

How netizens reacted to Higuruma’s survival in the spoilers

The majority of the fanbase is happy to see Higuruma's return. The spoilers didn't particularly delve into the details that allowed him to survive Sukuna's attacks.

It's safe to say that fans aren't concerned about that just yet as they continue celebrating the return of one of their favorite characters. The "power of friendship" trope is quite common in Shonen, and it is often employed to bypass logic in various titles. Readers are fine with Gege Akutami potentially using this trope to revive characters.

"MY HUSBAND IS HOME", said one fan.
"I LOVE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP IDCCC", said another.
"WE ARE SO BACK WOWOWOWOWOW", said one netizen.

Netizens couldn't ignore the similarities between the two series. Some have criticized Gege's writing at the moment, but they will have to reserve their judgment until the writer reveals how Higuruma was revived.

"HIGURUMA IS BAAACKK", said one fan.
"NEXT IS GOJO", said another.
"Tokyo what?", said one netizen.

Meanwhile, others have accepted Gege's decision and are looking forward to Gojo Satoru being revived in a similar fashion.

Stay tuned for more anime and manga news as 2024 progresses.
