Tower of God season 2 episode 1, titled "Last Chance," aired on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at 11 pm JST. In the latest episode, Bam's survival is revealed as he persists in his journey to ascend the Tower, looking for answers. Meanwhile, Princess Yuri searches for Bam, confident in his survival.

The episode introduces Ja Wangnan, a new main character in this season, who is taking the E-rank screening tests where he crosses paths with Bam. However, their initial encounter turns wild as Bam attacks everyone during the test.

Tower of God season 2 episode 1 begins with Rachel pushing Bam into the Shinsu lake. Bam survives and wakes up in a cavern where Hwaryun has saved him. Hwaryun tells Bam that he possesses a coveted power, holds the key to understanding their world, and has the potential to become the god of the tower.

She offers him power, but Bam rejects her, stating his reasons for climbing. Hwaryun introduces herself and welcomes him to the tower, stating that the end of the Tower is beginning as they move forward. The narrative shifts to Jahad Palace as Princess Yuri returns with the Green April and asks for her sister Repellista. Her other sister, Maschenny appears. Their brief chat hints at the underlying tension between them.

Yuri then meets Repellista, who congratulates her and notes that Garam was the last to possess two of the 13-month series. Yuri asks her to locate Bam, stating he wouldn’t die easily. Repellista agrees in exchange for Yuri getting something for her. Yuri exits as Repellista begins her search, stating the Prince of Jahad will soon return.

Tower of God season 2 episode 1 then shifts to the Tower’s 20th floor, where Ja Wangnan explains that Regulars who have already entered the Tower must undergo testing again. They can't climb higher unless they pass this high-difficulty test and get an E-rank.

Wangnan bumps into a young boy before the focus shifts to the E-rank screening exam. Despite his determination to become the King of the Tower, Wangnan fails the test. Frustrated, he vents at home while bathing when his moneylender arrives, demanding repayment. Wangnan's escape attempt fails, and the lender informs him he's under constant watch. Wangnan promises to repay the debt. The lender gives him one last chance, requiring him to sign a contract stating they’ll claim his organs if he fails.

The boy from earlier delivers ramen, and the lender pays him before leaving. Wangnan chats with the boy, who is also in a similar situation. The boy gives Wangnan a celebration coupon for when he passes the test. Determined, Wangnan vows to build the boy a ramen shop when he becomes king as the narrative focuses on his ring bearing the Jahad symbol.

In Tower of God season 2 episode 1, Wangnan retakes the test, beginning with a 30-minute survival exam. He encounters Bam, who has already defeated every other examinee. Determined not to lose, Wangnan proposes an alliance. Bam remains silent but refrains from attacking. Wangnan also teams up with three next examinees—a man, a child, and a woman.

When the last examinee arrives, he suggests taking out the woman and child, calling them hindrances. Wangnan proposes targeting him instead. Bam finally speaks, declaring that they’ll all fail, and prepares to fight. Tensions rise as the last examinee aims his weapon at Bam, who retaliates. Except for Wangnan, Bam and the other two men engage in a three-way confrontation.

Wangnan identifies Bam as a wave controller. Noticing the crest on his clothes, the woman identifies Bam as a member of FUG, a criminal organization opposing Jahad. Backed into a corner, the two men attack Bam together. Despite their efforts, Bam defeats them both.

In the ending scenes of season 2 episode 1, with only 30 seconds left in the exam, Wangnan suggests avoiding Bam, but Bam catches him. Wangnan screams, "I’m gonna reach the top of the Tower," prompting Bam to have flashbacks from the past.

On the last guy’s suggestion, Wangnan throws another bomb at Bam. However, the injured Bam covers himself in a red, spine-like shield that heals his injuries. He attacks Wangnan, but the timer ends just as Bam is about to strike him. The episode concludes with all of them passing the test, but Bam moves first to the next stage, recalling Khun and Rachel.
