A flashback reveals Beta's earlier conversation with Baam, where Beta hands him the key to the Thorn chamber and urges him to steal it, claiming it's Baam's best chance to defy FUG's control.

In the present, Baam enters the Thorn room and encounters Beta, who explains that FUG refers to it as the Kingslayer Thorn, an Ignition Weapon. This weapon was discovered in the location where Enryu, the Irregular, killed a floor administrator of the Tower, beings once thought to be invincible.

FUG originally intended to use the Thorn to kill Jahad, but since it was dormant, they collaborated with the Workshop's scientists to study and revive it. This led to the Workshop's development of Living Ignition Weapons, designed to house a Devil capable of activating the Thorn, which, it turns out, is contained within Baam.

Beta further reveals that FUG planned to present the Thorn to Baam during the tournament, but a faction of Slayers opposed this, fearing he might betray them. As a result, they devised a new plan to fuse Baam's soul with the Thorn's shell, creating an Ignition Weapon.

Just as the revelation sinks in, Beta surprises Baam, restrains him with Shinsu, and launches an attack.
