Tower of God season 2 episode 5, titled The Other Team, aired on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 11 pm JST. In this episode, Khun and Rachel make a comeback as the narrative focuses primarily on their lives.
Khun assembles his own team to climb the Tower while caring for Rachel, who continues to pretend she cannot walk. However, it is revealed that Khun is aware of Rachel’s deception and already suspects that she is responsible for Baam’s death.
He prepares to overtake the Khun family and also devises a strategy to avenge Baam. The episode concludes with a brief glimpse of Baam/Viole and his group on the 21st floor.

Tower of God season 2 episode 5 opening events: Khun recruits Edin Dan as Rachel returns
Tower of God season 2 episode 5 starts with a flashback of Endorsi asking Baam out on a date, which he declines due to his training. Khun watches from afar. Later, Baam thanks Khun for helping him and Rachel.
In the present, Khun talks with someone over call who informs him about a formidable Slayer candidate on the 20th floor (Baam/Viole), noting that he has defeated a Ranker and member of the Mule family (Love). Khun then meets Edin Dan, a Scout, and proposes a bet: if Khun wins, Dan joins his team; if Dan wins, he receives a large suspendium stone.
Dan initially gains the upper hand with his speed but is ultimately trapped by Khun’s well-laid plan and tranquilized. Khun delivers the unconscious Dan to his teammate Novick and heads to Rachel’s room, where she welcomes him back.
Meanwhile, in Tower of God season 2 episode 5, Dan wakes up to find Novick introducing himself and giving a brief rundown of the situation. Recognizing Novick as one of the top 10 E-rank Regulars, Dan listens as Novick explains Khun’s goal of climbing the Tower to take Rachel to the top. Novick also warns Dan not to show his pinkie in front of Khun.
Tower of God season 2 episode 5: Rachel keeps up her act, but Khun sees through her lies
In Tower of God season 2 episode 5, Rachel expresses remorse over Baam’s death, saying she can’t forget him and continues dreaming about him. Khun consoles her, telling her to forget Baam as he would have wanted that.
Khun also says that she can lean on him whenever needed. He informs her that they’ll resume climbing the Tower soon. Once Khun leaves, Rachel drops her pretense and walks around, happy to climb the Tower again, unaware that Khun is monitoring her and knows she is faking.
Khun then chats with Shibisu, revealing that Rachel killed Baam. He explains that Lero Ro had a doctor examine Rachel's legs, confirming they are fine. Shibisu questions Rachel’s motive, and Khun speculates that she made a deal with Lero Ro.
Despite this, Khun decides to go along with Rachel's pretense to keep the group unified. He tasks Shibisu with leading the others while Khun accompanies Rachel, taking responsibility for avenging Baam.
Meanwhile, Novick introduces Dan to their teammates: the information-gathering scout, Apple; the unlicensed doctor and wave controller, Michael the Missionary, the spear bearer and chef, Gyetang; and Ran the Fisherman. They mention that Endorsi and Anaak are allies and might collaborate with them to climb the Tower.
To determine the strongest in the group, they hold a mock fight. Apple, Michael, and Gyetang abstain. Dan is quickly taken out. The group tells him that Ran is likely one of the strongest E-rankers. Novick confronts Ran but is soon overpowered, with Ran emerging as the winner.
Later, Khun returns to the group, announcing they will resume climbing in one month. He reveals his goal to overtake the Khun family, dethrone Khun Eduan, and claim his title.
He promises to fulfill their desires when he achieves this, asking them to protect Rachel and pretend to be her friends but warns them not to get attached and be ready to betray her. He reveals his hatred for her because she killed his dearest friend. Meanwhile, in her room, Rachel laughs frantically.
Tower of God season 2 episode 5 closing events: Baam meets Hwaryun at the 21st floor
In the final scenes of Tower of God season 2 episode 5, the focus returns to Baam and Wangnan’s group. Goseng informs Yihwa that Baam has gone to the shopping district. Determined to expose Baam as a bad guy because of his identity as a FUG member, she follows him.
She follows him inside a shop but finds a goon looting the store, claiming to be Viole. The shopkeeper, revealed to be Hwaryun, insults the impostor, who prepares to attack her when Baam incapacitates him. The episode ends as Hwaryun tells Baam that his friend Yihwa is there and greets her.
