Tower of God season 2 episode 6: The reason behind Baam's Slayer title is revealed as Baam vs. Urek begins

Tower of God season 2 episode 6, titled Zygaena's Flower, aired on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 11 pm JST. In this episode, FUG members Hwaryun and Ha Jinsung enter the narrative, shedding light on Viole/Baam's reasons for joining FUG as a Slayer candidate and his motives for climbing the Tower.

Karaka also makes a brief appearance, while Urek Mazino enters the narrative. The 21st Floor's test begins with Baam and his team venturing into the Zygaena's body to retrieve its flower, where they unexpectedly encounter Urek. The episode concludes on a tense cliffhanger as Baam and Urek's showdown is about to unfold.

Tower of God season 2 episode 6 opens with Yihwa encountering Baam and Hwaryun, just as Jinsung arrives. Noticing Yihwa's hairpin with the Yeon family crest, Jinsung suspects she's a spy, but Baam clarifies that she's his teammate. However, Yihwa refuses to accept Baam as a teammate and insults Jinsung.

Despite Baam's warning that Jinsung is a High Ranker, Yihwa continues her rant until Baam knocks her out. They bring Yihwa to Baam's team's temporary residence on the 21st Floor. After a brief exchange, Jinsung steps outside.

Left alone with Wangnan, Hwaryun reveals that Jinsung originally intended to kill Baam's current teammates so he could form a stronger one, as FUG's higher-ups want him to climb the Tower with equally powerful teammates.

Although Jinsung spares them to respect Baam's decision, Hwaryun warns Wangnan that many FUG members disapprove of it. Wangnan questions why FUG believes Baam can kill Jahad, referencing Jahad's contract with the administrators that makes him invincible to the Tower residents.

Hwaryun explains that Baam, as an irregular, isn't bound by that contract and was forced into becoming a Slayer candidate to protect his friends. A flashback shows Hansung threatening to kill Baam's friends unless he complies.

In the present, Hwaryun tells Wangnan that FUG resorts to such extremes because none of them possess Baam's unique power. Meanwhile, Jinsung remarks that Baam has found some interesting teammates and expresses his hope that Baam will find happiness in his new identity as Viole.

In Tower of God season 2 episode 6, Wangnan reflects on what he's learned about Baam and unable to sleep, joins Baam on the balcony. He apologizes for calling Baam a bad guy, admitting that Baam is actually a good person. Wangnan vows that they'll pass the next test at any cost, saying if he were Baam's friend, he wouldn't regret dying.

Yihwa joins them, sparking a humorous exchange between her and Wangnan as the rest of the team gathers. From afar, Jinsung watches them and notices Karaka at a distance.

Later, during the 21st Floor test, Baam's team is taken to the ocean and tasked with entering the body of the Zygaena the Deep-Sea Fish, a creature worshipped by the people of that floor as a god, to retrieve one of its rare flowers. The team splits into two groups to enter through the creature's respiratory holes.

Wangnan, Akraptor, Miseng, and Goseng find a small pig-like creature with a flower on its back, but it escapes into a small hole. Since the others can't fit, they send Miseng after it, while Wangnan and Akraptor search for a larger entrance to follow. Meanwhile, inside the Zygaena, a mysterious figure becomes aware of the team's arrival.

Kang Horyang and Prince enter the other respiratory hole, with Baam and Yihwa close behind. Kang and Prince easily defeat a giant lizard, but suddenly, more dead lizards fall from above, along with a lightning bolt and a mysterious man (Urek Mazino).

In the final scenes of Tower of God season 2 episode 6, Kang realizes the danger and urges Prince to flee, but Urek threatens to kill anyone who tries to escape, encircling them with lightning. Sensing trouble, Baam rushes ahead. Urek, keeping his identity secret to avoid causing a commotion, reveals he's one of the Tower's most powerful beings.

Urek initially mistakes them for Rankers, but Kang clarifies they're Regulars on a test. Urek reveals he's killed Rankers before, shocking Prince, but offers to let them live if they forfeit the test. Kang, acknowledging Urek's power, suggests they quit as Baam arrives.

Meanwhile, Akraptor asks Wangnan about his sudden seriousness. Wangnan reveals they can't fail the test, explaining that Baam's friends will die if they do and that Baam is climbing the Tower to protect them. As Baam tells Kang and Prince to escape, he prepares to confront Urek. The episode ends with Baam and Urek gearing up for a fight.
