Following the conclusion of the rollercoaster ride that was season 2, the likelihood of Tower of God season 3 is being questioned by diehard manhwa fans and anime-only audiences alike. While plenty of source material is left to adapt, there has been no official word on a third season’s production as of this article’s writing.

That being said, it’s the exact source material that Tower of God season 3 would cover, which perfectly justifies and shows why a second sequel needs to be produced. The Hell Train arc intensely heightens the series’ quality in many aspects, including but not limited to protagonist Bam’s character development, worldbuilding and lore, and more.

Tower of God season 3 would establish the series as a household name if greenlit and done well

One of the biggest reasons Tower of God season 3 would be such a hit if produced and produced well is what it does for series protagonist 25th Bam. The Hell Train arc shows readers a Bam who is more mature and much stronger than a D-rank Regular by this point. He even enters The Hell Train arc, accepting that there will be new teammates he makes whose explicit purpose is to be sacrificial while riding the titular locomotive.

This is a major departure from Bam’s ideals during the first two seasons, where he laments death and sacrifice in all forms. While he still clings to this belief during The Hell Train arc, he develops a sense of maturity and the power to stick to such ideals. While this power is derivative of the Thorn, Bam's effort into mastering it and rebuilding his fighting style is made clear.

Likewise, this also leads to a massive elevation of the series’ approach to fights and conflict in Tower of God season 3’s would-be source material. While The Answer Studio has been far from perfect in season 2, the very first episodes and the overall second half of the season show what the production house can achieve. The final fight against Reflejo specifically can be seen as the start of the series' new direction to its fights.

Yet even beyond Bam, there are many other characters whose awesome abilities and incredible might will make for internet-breaking scenes if done well. Characters like Hoaqin, Yuri Ha Jahad, and other newcomers in the arc all fit into this category, with large, inventive, and aesthetically attractive attacks. The series’ power system of Shinsu likewise truly shines in the corresponding would-be season 3 source material via this creativity and uniqueness.

What also shines in The Hell Train arc is the series’ worldbuilding and lore, deepening the history of FUG and also touching on King Jahad’s first climb through the Tower with his allies. The history of the Tower itself is also touched upon in the latter focus, although largely in implicit ways. Nevertheless, fans will slowly but surely learn much more about the Tower in a hypothetical Tower of God season 3 than in season 2.

Yet the single biggest reason Tower of God season 3 deserves to happen is the foil between protagonist Bam and the arc’s primary antagonist Hoaqin. The two are contrasted against each other in an enthralling and heart-pounding way, fighting for their respective values and goals at multiple points. The arc even ends in a climactic showdown between them, which serves as the next major checkpoint for Bam’s growth in the story.

Hoaqin is also an incredibly interesting character on his own, being very well-written and presented as despicable, yet on some levels relatable due to his motivations and origins. Bam’s rivalry with him can potentially reach the trending heights of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Yuji Itadori and Mahito. While this will hinge on the series’ production, like most everything else mentioned here, it is a chance at true anime greatness.

The source material that Tower of God season 3 would adapt justifies the production of a sequel by nature of the potential it holds for the franchise overall. Via its focus on characters, narratives, and worldbuilding, as well as memorable foil relationships and a “leveling up” of the series’ combat, the story has the potential to become a household name. However, a third season must first be officially announced for production before such lofty heights are reached.
