Demon Slayer season 4 was a huge hit and Ufotable did a brilliant job with adding a plethora of anime-only scenes which improved the overall viewing experience. One of the reasons why fans loved this season is due to the studio’s understanding of the source material.
They saw the opportunity to add anime-original scenes but did so without altering the tone that the source material had set. The fans lauded the studio’s judgment since they didn’t alter any of the existing content seen in the manga.
One of the most important scenes in the anime was the Ubuyashiki family sacrificing their lives in order to help the demon hunters launch their attack on Kibutsuji Muzan.

Demon Slayer season 4: The importance of Ubuyashiki family’s sacrifice to the overall story
The final episode of Demon Slayer season 4 was impactful, and it set the tone for the upcoming story arc - the Infinity Castle arc. Kagaya Ubuyashi, his wife, and their two children sacrificed their lives.
The leader of the Corps had an intuition regarding Muzan’s presence in his final moments. The Demon King wanted to come and kill Ubuyashiki himself, especially after Nakime located his whereabouts with her reconnaissance abilities.
What Ubuyashiki did that day happened to be one of the biggest plot points in the show. The entirety of the Hashira Training arc showed how the demon hunters were preparing for an all-out war against the Demons. None of the demon hunters were able to launch an attack on Muzan.
In fact, Tanjiro Kamado was the only one in the organization who came in contact with the Demon King. There was something poetic about the leader of the organization, launching an attack against the main antagonist of the series.
Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s actions in Demon Slayer season 4 set off a chain reaction, which resulted in such progress that was never seen in the organization before. The demon hunters not only defeat a few Upper Moon demons but are also actively pursuing the Demon King with the intention of killing him.
If Ufotable altered the scene and refused to show the sacrifice, the entire season would have ended on a rather bitter note. The sacrifice was crucial in providing that emotional impact, which elevated the overall viewing experience.
Without the death of Kagaya, Amane, and their two children, fans would not grasped the gravity of the situation that the demon hunters currently find themselves in.
This is why Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s sacrifice in Demon Slayer season 4 was paramount for the story’s progression. Furthermore, the anime movie will reveal the fact that not all of Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s kids are dead.
His two daughters and a son are alive in the manga. The son assumes the mantle of his departed father and helps the demon hunters navigate through the Infinity Castle. Ufotable’s choice to retain the sacrifice was crucial to the season’s success.
